Here is the thing, Calzaghe himself is no longer in his prime. It would be a prime Dawson fighting a past his prime Calzaghe. Last year Joe beat a prime Kessler, the best fighter at 168 right now.

Yeah but that's my point, he can't be the man at 175 lbs right now simply because he hasn't fought a to me championship level LHW yet. Him not being in his prime has little to do with that, just because there's an age advantage for Dawson doesn't mean the fight be would unfair. And doesn't Joe beating a prime Kessler prove he's still up to facing in their prime fighters?

A win over Dawson would solidify his legacy, a loss would start off Dawson's predicted dominant career at 175. And people, there is no one left for Calzaghe to fight. Both fighters combined have beaten every major fighter in the division or have beaten fighters who did.

I wouldn't. I said Dawson is overrated in the way some people on these boards are making him out to be, but, he is certainly better than both Hopkins and Roy at this stage of their careers. He is a legit LH threat and of course a Champion.

It's just that Dawson hasn't shown me that "greatness" of past LHs had...not yet anyway. I thought him beating Adamek was the start but I don't know...he has to do more since something is missing for me with him.

It would be a great win in my book; better than anyone he fought.

Calzaghe has nothing else to prove. He's been to the mountain top and is considered one of the greatest of all time. Dawson needs to go avenge his loss to Johnson before calling someone out.
