Ricky Hatton: "Calzaghe vs. Dawson, A Load of Rubbish"
Collapse

Hopkins was the best light heavyweight and he beat him. Dawson's name has only come up because Pavlik lost last month.Hatton is completely WRONG...
CD was a major player beffore Joe even entered the the LHW division. CD had the WBC he won by defeating an undeafted Admek (sp)..he has wins over GJ AND Tarver BOTH former LHW champions...
Joe could retire at 37 yes and you cant knock him.. but he certainly hasnt cleaned out LHW until he fights CD...Comment

I would quite like to see joe have a fight with dawson. It would be a good fight. I think Joe would take a decision though.
If not Dawson a bhop rematch would be cool.Comment

Spot on! and if he did that everybody would be calling for the pavlik fight again ,saying he ducked him etc. then after he disposes of pavlik all the idiots will say hopkins softened him up,then they would call for a second hopkins fight, then after joe beats him again everybody will say he deliberately took the dawson and pavlik fights so that hopkins would be even older than when they fought the first time.....by that time,Pacman will probably be a middleweight and the same idiots will be saying joe has been dodging pacman all his career lol!hatton has a point.
someone will always be there that calzaghe has to beat, a fight with dawson makes no sense. those calling for the fight know that, dawson has replaced pavlik now as the person calzaghe haters use. joe can't win with those sorta people calling for the fight, if calzaghe did fight dawson and beat him, dawson would be called an overrated bum,Comment

Chad dawson would make a great fight for Calzaghe. i think Chads handspeed and power is very dangerous when thrown in combos.
Calazaghe has to land the first punches everytime against Chad or its gonna be a bad bloody night for JoeyComment

does hatton want calzaghe to retire so he can have all the attention of the press????? i don't think so, but when you're a media darling, you can easy become a diva, not that hatton is, but you never no with these types, and in these type situations....Comment

Really? Just like everyone knew that Tyson would beat Douglas, Trinidad would beat Hopkins(don't fool yourself, most picked Trinidad at the time) and Tszyu would beat Hatton. Hell, go back further, to when all knew Louis would kill Schmeling in their first fight or Frazier was gonna whup Foreman. Besides, it's not like Roy, who was an unbelievable talent, didn't avoid some tough names in his day.
The truth is, we DON'T know for sure. That's why they fight the fights.Comment

Chad Dawson a bit of the bolt from the blue? I think not. He beat Adamek a few years ago who was considered by alot of people as one of the top Light Heavyweights out there. Pretty much schooled him. And now Adamek is one of the top Cruiserweights out there. Jeff Lacy? Well you already stated whats fact.. that he's HYPE. Kessler? Who has he fought? Who is he fighting now? Thank you. Are you another one of Calzaghes accountants worrying about how much money he would get? I'm a fan i wanna see the best fight the best. Everyone and their mother knows Jones was shot to ****. He was shot when he got knocked out by Glenn Johnson and should of retired right then.Chad Dawson was a bit of the bolt from the blue.
Calzaghe is an old man who is fighting the other senior citizens. He took on young undefeated champions before. Chad Dawson offers nothing tangibly different to either to ensure Joe a big enough pay day. Jeff Lacy was hyped as hell. Kessler was a double world champion. They both had zero's.
Dawson has one truly impressive display against Tarver. A solid, unspectacular opponent who is long in the tooth himself.Comment

"Stepped" up? Jones was not a step up, He's completely shot and was shot years ago when he got knocked out by Johnson so give me a break with the "stepped" up ****.Hatton is completely correct. People will criticise Calzaghe no matter what. A few months ago it was Pavlik, before that it was Jermain Taylor, Lacy and Kessler's names were thrown in to the mix and Calzaghe stepped up and done the business. Now is a time to draw a line under things and retire knowing that he is one of the best of his era and one of the best to ever emerge from Britain's shores.Comment
