Pavlik might come into the fight at 170. That's what he apparently weighed on the night against Lockett, so I'm guessing he's going to be above that.

Hopkins had very little fat on him against Calzaghe, and he'll have to lose 5lbs for the Pavlik fight, which might mean burn off muscle, which isn't a good thing. OK, it's only 5lbs, but Pavlik is only moving up 10lbs so...

I'm not saying that Pavlik will definitley hit harder, but those are some things to consider.

Let me go even further, with the weight issue,
Who is a bigger puncher, Tommy Hearns at 147 or Hopkins at 160?
Or Benn at 160 against Hopkins at 175?

It didn't see his increase in power in the 2nd fight against Taylor which was at 166 if I remember correctly.

            Tyson 220 Bruno 247

That is 27 difference in weight. Pavlik at 160 Hopkins 175 that is only 15 difference
Tyson is one of the greatest punchers of all time. Pavlik isn't.

I'm sure prime Thomas Hearns could knock out certain top 100 heavyweights, but the vast majority of welterweights could not.

Maybe because Taylor has better game plan and was more focus this time and didn’t take Pavlik lightly.

Pavlik has great power but if you think he's going to knock out Hopkins then you're crazy.
