Pavlik is not a one punch puncher. He is a strong puncher though and concentrates on punches in bunches. That is more formidable combination than a huge puncher who relies on landing that huge punch and often fail trying.

Pavlik does not even load up on his punches. If he did he would probably be a one punch puncher, but he would also telegraph his shots, miss and get countered more and be far less effective. Pavlik pushes out his shots and does not wind them up like most do. That enables him, not being a fast fighter, to still land.

Pavlik is a bigger puncher cause he knocked JT out cold. I dont think Hopkins would even say he hits harder.

Ok I am going to bring this up since no one else did. In an interview that was posted with Hopkins in it recently(don't remember which thread) said that Pavlik was a big strong puncher. Stronger then him.

In the interview he also states that Pavlik has a pawing punch that calibrates distance. He has solid power all around consistently, and he has a finisher that is a one punch. JT experienced both. Pavlik sets up a KO by breaking you down some what and then finding you with a devastating right. Looking at his first fight with JT is a perfect example. He jabbed and landed some solid rights, beat up on him with multiple punches. Then when he had him dialed in he delivered his nasty power right. This was the punch right before JT fell into the corner and Pavlik went on with his power combination to finish. He has more power when he wants and feels that he can deliver it with a low risk of a counter.

Pavlik is more dimensional then people give him credit for. He is still undefeated for a reason. He has fought some hitters and come out ahead in all instances.

Pavlik is weaker at 160 because he is weight drained. He is stronger and healthier at a heavier weight, his trainer talked about this before JT II.
