like ive tried to explain to you he has not faced a multitude of styles thats why he struggled with Hopkins style and why he would struggle with Dawson

Joe is a great tactical fighter against opponents that are just right for him. Hopkins and Reid were both boxer/counter punchers and i didn't see Joe adjust to either of them. While Kessler has obvious great skills, he is not that hard to figure out and was pretty much trying to survive from the mid rounds on. Dawson has showed an ability to adjust against Johnson, Harding an Gardner, fighters that are multi dimensional.

With the exception of the first round, Dawson had little problems with the slick southpaw eric Harding, who was the first to beat Tarver and gave a prime Jones all he could handle. This is a video of Dawson when his defense was not as good but it was still a huge step in competition from what he was facing pre Harding.

im pointing out that less skilled fighters with much less adavantages than Dawson have given him trouble and Hopkins would of beaten him had he not been 43
You said yourself it was a flash KD! I can't fault your liking for an argument though!

On struggling (a bit) with lesser opponents, you can say that about many fighters, for example some of the easiest fights of Mayweather's career have been the ones against his supposedly toughest opponents.

Calzaghe would have beat Hopkins at any time in their careers, with the fight playing out almost exactly the same as it did. The style matchup goes in Joe's favour IMO.

I gotta go now, as its late and I have work tomorrow, but as always, nice talking to you.

i really dont mean to offend you abadger but i cant decide if your opinon on Boxing stinks so bad because you are so biased towards Calzaghe or its because you have not been following the sport very long and dont seem to understand it very well

abadger you see what you want to see when it comes to Boxing you are the type who watches other SMW ,LHW to view them so you can make an argement when someone puts them up against Joe Calzaghe

              so WTF

i also dont see him getting a decision either cause of his poor stamina this is a sure fire victory as you can get IMO same as the Judah v Clottey fight

unless Calzaghe has detiriorated to the level Jones is at now then i only see one winner and it aint Roy im afraid
Hopkins put Joe down and he has way less power than Roy. Also less speed. If Roy lands a fast blow that Joe doesnt see coming I think he will go down, not saying for the count on the firt KD but over time it will be too much. ONLY IF JONES FIGHTS THOUGH!

What was Calzaghe best performance against unproven Kessler. Taking away the best advantage for his opponents?? What advantage Kessler had basic boxer. I think Hopkins knows how to take the advantage away from his opponent than Calzaghe and would win a fight in their primes. Hopkins style is suited for Calzgahe.

Alright, after this one thats really it!

@Terrible: No offense taken. You really think my opinion on boxing stinks? If so I'm very hurt! We disagree over Calzaghe but not in general on most things, so don't you think its simply a case of me rating that particular fighter higher than you do?

@Slick: I am in almost full agreement with you that Chad Dawson is the boxer most likely to be able to beat Calzaghe, he presents significant challenges on a stylistic and skills based level that Calzaghe has not seen before. However, I do not believe he actually could. Most of the stylistic/ skills issues are equally valid in the other direction, Dawson may have faced southpaws but never anybody like Joe. Calzaghe is the more experienced boxer and has found the way to beat every boxer he's faced in his career, and against Dawson, who has shown significant tactical frailties himself, it is my belief that the case would be the same. I do however hope that by some miracle they do actually fight, because especially if Dawson beats Tarver he will be the boxer with the most credible case for the fight and the best chance of actually getting a result.

thats exactly what i think it is

your opinion is balanced if it does not involve Joe Calzaghe or is not directly linked to Calzaghe

Jones has got what it takes to beat Calzaghe
at the end of the day, its gonna be a battle against himself to see if he can box the full 12 rounds under Calzaghe's pressure
