yea bro...i would consider tito chinny...as you stated he hit the deck a few times...chinny is different from having a glass chin IMO...as for the Hearns stoppage, i can see it...tito is succeptible to getting hit and Tommy was a WW with cruiserweight pop...one of those lands, it might be good night

Yeah I dunno. I've watched a lot of Tommy Hearns fights and as good as he was I think his power might have been a little overstated. He landed very good right hands on a number of opponents that still went the distance with him. Tito is by no means an easy guy to stop, despite how easily he gets down. Especially at WW. I'm not saying I completely rule out a Hearns stoppage but I would class it as being reasonably unlikely.Comment

Yeah I think it is. If I could make one all time WW matchup this could be it. These guys in their primes at 147 would be absolutely incredible, fight of the century material.Comment

Hearns can take him either way. He can outbox him or (Mortal Kombat) Finish Him! Tito can get it anyway he wants. Still I give Tito a chance but I'd lean towards The HitmanWhat do you guys think of this match-up? IMO it is one of the most interesting WW matchups you can make.
I think it could be a case where the better fighter would get beaten. Undoubtedly Hearns was a superior fighter however Tito's style is pretty much kryptonite for Tommy. He has power, finishes fights strong and has a damaging left hook - Tommy's bogey punch.
I think in a ten fight series Trinidad might win 6 or 7. It would all come down to whether Tommy managed to use his jab and great right hand to keep Trinidad from landing that left hook for the 12 rounds. Obviously Hearns has a better chance in a 12 round fight compared to a 15 rounder.
Your thoughts on this match-up?Last edited by El Dominicano; 09-03-2008, 11:02 PM.Comment

I'm on the fence with this one.i could see hearns doing to tito what he did to pipino, but i could see tito getting up from a knockdown and koing him in the middle rounds.both guys where chinny, but i think tito was a bigger puncher than hagler.its a question as too who's beard would hold up longer.and it took acumalative punishment from a natural middle for tito to get ko'd.Comment

hearns by tko
hearns had a long hard jab that would give tito hell, plus tito always had problems with boxers with good movement. if 'nard can KO tito, hearns can KO him as well
Hearns KO 8 Trinidad (and thats being friendly)Comment

Not at welterweight they didn't. Hearns was 32-1 with 30 KO's at welterweight with the one loss to Leonard. Only two fighters during that period went the distance with Hearns and one was a middleweight named Mike Colbert. Although Colbert went the distance, Hearns knocked him down 4 times and broke his jaw. Colbert was decent middleweight too. I pick Hearns over Trinidad because Hearns was a better all around fighter. Better boxing skills.Trinidad can't fight well going backwards and he would have to against Heanrs or it would be a short night. I can't see Trinidad going forward eating right hand bombs from Hearns and surviving it. Hearns hit that hard at welterweight and his left hook to the body was no joke either.Last edited by joseph5620; 09-03-2008, 11:02 PM.Comment
