The Tito left hook is what I would be most worried about. Hearns had a tendency of getting caught by left hooks and as you say he didn't have the best of chins. Could he really have outboxed arguably the most powerful WW in the history of the sport for a full 12 rounds without getting caught by a Tito left hook, the punch he was historically most vulnerable to? I'm not as sure as most seem to be.

It is also important to remember that Trinidad was a deadly finisher and if he hurt Hearns badly it would most likely be all over for Tommy.
hearns is a great fighter but people forget tito was also.

could he have done to tito what hopkins did? of course , hearns had excellent boxing skills but will he do it though?

hearns can be drawn to slugfests. despite his advantages in height and reach , he didn't always use it.

a good comparison of hearns would be corrales. of course diego isn't as great as thomas but he was similar. great power , average chin at best , very tall for his weight class , had a long reach but didn't always use his height and reach to his advantage.

if tito can catch hearns , i'm not sure thomas' chin could handle it tbh.

Hearns actually got hurt more by right hands than left hooks, Leonard caught him with a right hand in the 14th, Barkley caught him with a right hand that hurt him badly, Hagler ended his night with a right hand, Hearns relied of rolling with right hand shots after throwing his jabs then coming back with his own right hand, sometimes it didn't work. He didn't get hit and hurt too much to my recollection by left hooks.

i think Silencer is right on this one aswell

i think Hearns would end matters very quickly Tito is one of my favourite fighters but he aint taking the Hitman right hand no way he has never been in a ring with a puncher like Hearns in his whole career and he has still been on ther canvas countless times

        Hearns by KO 3

Tito hasn't been in the ring with a puncher like Hearns. Deadly power combined with excellence skills.

We learned from the Leonard fight that you cannot outbox a prime Hearns, even when you are the best. Outslugging is the best way to beat him, which Hearns did not get involved in much.

Keep in mind the Hagler he fought was a naturally larger opponent with a chin that was unreal. When Hagler knew he could take Hearns best, it was all over for the hitman. Tito does not have that chin. We know Tommy never had the best chin but he would keep Tito out of bay with the jab keeping him vulnerable for the right hand.

I think it would be all over for whoever gets hurt first which leads me to believe Hearns comes out from the first bell as the aggressor leaning me towards a Hearns KO.

when u can starch a guy like Duran who had an iron chin in a matter of 2 rounds it makes me think Tito is having his lights turned out for sure

i think previously i picked Tito in this fight but i cant understand what made me think that it seems like an odd prediticion now when i think about it

Did you guys see the jabs Winky hit Tito with, did you guys see how Oscar was able to neutralize Tito with his jab.....Tommy's jab is 100 times better and harder than both of them guys....Tommy would jab Tito into a daze then unload that right hand and its bed time for Tito.....This would be like Pavlik-Taylor I without Hearns getting dropped.

Trinidad needs room to get of his left hook so he wouldn't fight on the inside (or be able to cause Hearns wouldn't let him over 12), Hearns would distance himself and keep him at the end of the jab.
I agree with you sir...Hearns would keep him on the end of that jab and hit him with the right hand often...not too many were able to get out of the way of the right hand hammer that hearns threw. It had to be one of the straightest right hands and quick and accurate in boxing. Trinidad never had the movment that Sugar Ray had or Money may for that matter. I think Tommy would KO him early in the 4th or 5th round.......Lefty

All good points guys thanks for the responses. I actually think Trinidad would have had more of a chance than a lot of posters have given him credit for but good responses nonetheless.

I just notice how in fantasy match-ups the boxer from the past seems to always get the nod.

We're beginning to over hype the past fighters and underrate our current (or recent) ones...

I'd root for Tito, though I know either of them could win.

I agree to an extent. I am a big fan of both these guys but if this fight were to come off I would be rooting for Tommy. Its just something about Tito's style though that I think would be bad for Hearns. I agree though, either could win.
