Yeah I honestly think Trinidad is underrated on these boards. Sure he ran up against a couple of guys who had his number but that is not unusual, even for ATGs. I think people just saying, "Hearns is way to good for Tito, Hearns KO 3" or whatever are risking just casting Tito aside as any other fighter. He wasn't.
I have watched a lot of welters and I don't think I have ever seen a guy hit as hard at that weight and he has arguably the best left hook I have ever seen. Bottom line is that a guy who hits that hard and finishes that well should not be written off as having very little chance against a guy with a questionable chin who had a habit of dropping his right hand. Regardless of how great Tommy might have been.Comment

i agree Trinidad is underrated on these boards i think the guy was a beast in his prime i dont judge him on what we see now i judge him in his prime
Tito would have a great chance dont get me wrong i just feel that Hearns right hand would find a home easier and sooner than Tito's left hook Hearns right hand was not only powerful it was up there with Arguello's for accuracy IMOComment

Yeah, it can definately go either way. It is fine to favour Hearns I think but writing off tito as no chance and saying it will be an easy KO for Tommy as some have said is a bit ridiculous IMO.i agree Trinidad is underrated on these boards i think the guy was a beast in his prime i dont judge him on what we see now i judge him in his prime

no way would it be easy Tito hits to hard and is an Elite fighter so how can he be dismissed so easily
i do think Hearns would end it early though but not to say that Tito would'nt give him all he could handle its just that kind of fight if someone is going to lose they are getting KTFO early
i agree some people dismissing Tito are clearly crazyComment

A lot of people call this fight 50-50; I think even Ive called it this when its been brought up in the past, however the more I think about it I'd have to favour Hearns by as much as 70-30, I mean 50-50 is valid because they're both huge punchers and vulnerable, but throw into the mix Hearns' virtually unparalelled boxing ability, and Titos evident vulnerability to good boxers (clueless tactically when outfoxed by DLH, Hop and Winky, and in portions of a handful of other fights including even Vargas) and you have to favour the Hitman. Plus, much as Trinidad was explosive, he had to plant his feet first and Hearns doesn't often simply stand there for you to hit him, if he does its because he's planting his feet too and in a quick shootout I see his right hand landing before Felixes left hook.Comment

it would be a great matchup, but I think it would depend on which Trinidad you are talking about. Trinidad of late who "head-hunted" would lose, the Tito that boxed, moved jabbed, etc... would win via mid round KO. (Hearns is chinny)
Hearns has more power than Tito, but other than Hearns, at WW who had more power than Tito??Comment
