  • Hearns-Trinidad @ 147

What do you guys think of this match-up? IMO it is one of the most interesting WW matchups you can make.

I think it could be a case where the better fighter would get beaten. Undoubtedly Hearns was a superior fighter however Tito's style is pretty much kryptonite for Tommy. He has power, finishes fights strong and has a damaging left hook - Tommy's bogey punch.

I think in a ten fight series Trinidad might win 6 or 7. It would all come down to whether Tommy managed to use his jab and great right hand to keep Trinidad from landing that left hook for the 12 rounds. Obviously Hearns has a better chance in a 12 round fight compared to a 15 rounder.

Hearns outboxes and KO's Tito late. Leonard couldn't outbox him, Leonard could only get in the inside late in the fight when Hearns faded and he made it count. Trinidad needs room to get of his left hook so he wouldn't fight on the inside (or be able to cause Hearns wouldn't let him over 12), Hearns would distance himself and keep him at the end of the jab.

Would you call Tito chinny? I know he got put down a lot but he was rarely seriously hurt and took pretty big bombs from great punchers and kept coming. Personally I see a Hearns stoppage as the least likely result. I think if Tommy gets the win it is a decision.

Good post. I disagree with Hearns stopping him but I agree this is definately one of the ways the fight could go.

Hopkins KOd Tito and Hearns probably hits harder than Hopkins, I could see Hearns winning a late TKO. But I would agree that Hearns decision is more likely

                Great match up btw!

I think Hearns stops him because Hearns has unworldly power. He was KOing Cruiserweights, Tito is not chinny but you don't need to be chinny to get KO'd by the Hitman.

I think Hearns might have the edge in power, but I think Tito's chin hold's up better. Tito by KO 3rd round. Vicious too. Then again, I am Puerto Rican..
