Maybe it is what does it matter how 'impressed' we are by who a fighter has beaten? What about how good the boxers are and what happens when they actually fight?

I dont even get why you guys back this ****. Who cares what Calzaghe thinks, its what you prove. Ummmmmmm ummmmmmmmm I think Pavlik would get killed by Kessler so I wont fight him?????? Uhhhh Joe you beat Kessler so now you move on to the next best fighter. I dont get anyone would not want their favorite fighter to fight the best. Prove to us that Pavlik is a bum Joe. Prove that **** and try to UD him. Dont run that yap that you think this and that. When you assume Joe you make an ass out of u and me.

I thought we agreed not to use reasoning anymore? It doesn't work around here.

OK, I'll stop for a while. Maybe abuse will work better?

Them apples, there are about 17 posts that I've directed your way in previous Calzaghe threads that you have failed to answer. At least try responding to one of them before posting more ignorant, ill-informed views.

You are wrong about almost everything.

When I lose a debate, or at least am unable to respond to the points that a person has made, I do not find another thread and repeat the exact same view. Why do people like yourself behave differently?

give me a break. if youre a real fan of a fighter, you want him to fight the best and give us the best fights. Tony fought Wlad, the best at Heavy, and got knocked out. but I was happy that that happened instead of Tony just running around fighting less risky guys.

and youre nuts if you dont think that Pavlik would add greatly to Calzaghe's legacy. title defences and paper belts mean almost nothing in this day and age. cmon, look at someone like Zsolt Erdie. the guy has around 10 title defences and none of the guys were even worthwhile. does that make him a better Light Heavyweight than someone like Dwight Muhammed Qawi, who only defended his about 4 times? hell no.

the better people that Calzaghe fights, the better his legacy. Me, I would prefer to see Calzaghe try to get as high as he can on ATG lists, and hes not going to do that by ignoring challengers that are worthy of fighting him.
I'm glad that YOU were happy that Tony got KO'd, I'm not so sure that TONY was. I don't meanthis against you, just taking the opportunity to sday something I've wanted to for a long time.

It astonishes me how posters who know NOTHING about boxing, or getting in at the sharp end with someone, can organize and settle the whole life and career of a fighter whom not only they don't know, but who, even if they DID know him, wouldn't be authorized to settle anything for them anyway.

Of course, this chit-chat about whether Jack Johnson would have beaten Joe Louis, or Dempsey beaten Marciano (I think he'd have killed him) is lots of fun, and can never be settled, BUT, in lieu of this, can be approximated by listening to the contemporary experts who have seen and known both.

There's no law against wasting time these days, and we have fun doing it.

For the record the definition of elite =

                    –noun
                    1. (often used with a plural verb) the choice or best of anything considered collectively, as of a group or class of persons.
                    2. (used with a plural verb) persons of the highest class: Only the elite were there.
                    3. a group of persons exercising the major share of authority or influence within a larger group: the power elite of a major political party.

Calzaghe is factually #1 in two weight divisons having beaten the #1 or two guys, and is p4p #2 in the world.

You cannot re write the dictionary and retro spectively call someone non elite for them retiring as planned not fighting someone as you wanted.

Grow up. Lots of fights don't come off.
As far as I recall, Calzaghe had 2 titles after he beat Biko for the second one. He had 3 titles after he beat Kessler who had 2. So he must have given up at least 1, maybe 2 titles. However it canot be denied that he has held ALL 4 MAJOR titles, and has never been beaten for any of them.

what?? I didn't see them if you directed than many at me, what would you like me to answer?

are you trying to tell me that the delusions of Calzaghe having a solid record are true? don't bother trying to argue that someone like Kessler is better than Pavlik, Kessler never beat anyone so how would you know?
