Judah was able to get at Floyd pretty easily at times.

Pernell would have grabbed the lead and kept it.

Slick southpaw, with speed and incredible defense.

      Pea 8-4 Mayweather.

That is the funniest thing I have ever read. Nobody even came close to giving Pernell a hard fight.

Lets see who has given Floyd a hard fight. Chavez, Castillo, Augustus... Oh yeah, thats right...

Floyd couldn't carry Petes jock strap.

Pound for pound, the only person at 135 that MIGHT beat Whitaker is Roberto Duran.

I give him the edge at 130 where he was just a nightmare.

I'm not even sure Floyd edges 147, where an old Pea fought tooth and nail with a young Oscar, ouboxed McGirt and eventually moved up to beat Julio Cesar Vasquez. Vasquez being the young champ who put Winky Wright on his ass five times. And he's not anywhere near Whitaker's best win.

Floyd is a great fighter but Pea is one of the ten best ever. Period.

I have to give the decision win to Whitaker. There is a good reason that boxing experts and fans are happy Mayweather retired--his speed, his counter punching, his defense were so amazing that we needed him to test his skills against the best. Yes he fought champions, but why Arturo Gatti? You can't say truthfully that a fight with a well faded Gatti showed off his ability--Gatti would go on to make Alfonso Gomez look like a real contender. Lets be honest now,

A boxers resume will always define their greatness.

Whitaker was a gold medalist and his first professional fight was against an undefeated 9-0 contender. Twelve fights later he had the lightweight title, and his third defense, only his 15th fight, was a split decision loss to someone with a record of 100-6.

He regained the title less than a year later and held onto a wbc belt for 8 years. He was regarded as the first man to beat the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez (they fought to a draw but he clearly took the middle and late rounds).

Mayweather's skills are indisputable, but his importance as a boxer will always stack against his resume.

I like both of them, admire both of them. Whitaker was a defensive master, he had a greater defence than Mayweather, but then again Floyds is brilliant as well. Floyd had better handspeed, I'd say Pea was marginally sharper with his punches. I don't see a gulf between them; I think Floyd was the better all round fighter though.

Trinidad beat him fairly although sweet pea was old. WHitaker is better than Mayweather though.

Huh? Are you completely ignoring his first defeat?
