Who else is inspired by Bernard Hopkins' story?

Absolutely. Especially the last year of his life or so (which was the most important, imo).
But even if YOU don't think so, you can substitute his name with someone else who spent time in jail only to turn their life around for the better.Last edited by ИATAS; 06-24-2008, 06:56 PM.Comment

Yes, I say he ultimately chose the right path in life. Besides the white boy comments. lolComment

And Bernard had to lose 5 more pounds. He could have forced Winky to come up the full 15 like Tarver did, but he let him fight at a catch weight. You forget to mention that Winky had to balloon up 15 pounds to fight Bernard...
Like I said.. fighting smaller peoples
That and Trinidad fit perfectly in at middleweight. So he wasn't that smaller. Besides smaller fighters can beat middleweights too. Carmen Basilio weighed only 153 pounds against Sugar Ray Robinson's 160 pounds. It's safe to say Robinson wasn't a blow up welterweight either since he beat the middleweight champion 5 different times and beat middleweight contenders.Comment

I get the impression that there are aspects of Hopkins' life story which are exaggerated somewhat.Comment

Bernard? Nah.. He was nothing but an athletic criminal, and it showed in the way that he fought in the ring- as well as the ignorant things that he said out of the ring.
Manny Pacquiao's story is inspiring. Edison Miranda's story is inspiring. But not B-Hop's.Comment

Because what you said described judah.
judahathletic
judahcriminal
judahignorant things that he said out of the ring
It's funny to me because people diss hopkins and yet their own favorite fighters are guilty of the same ****, if not worse. But it's whatever though, if you want to call hopkins a "athletic criminal" cuz he made a mistake when he was a teenager and turned his life around ever since, it's cool.Comment
