hype is a fake thing just an appearance just because ur a hyped fighter doesnt mean ur better just look at jeff lacy
a loss actually makes u better(unless u take some brain damage in the process) specially if u can comeback from it like margarito has done
margarito has learned from his lost and he is looking more devastating than ever in his next 2 fights against cintron and golden
and u can make sure he wont make the same mistake of starting slow again
thats why i think fighting margarito this time is more dangerous, it may give u slightly less recognition but its a more tougher fight

I totally agree with that but Margarito hasnt lost in years before he fought Williams, He was on 2 impressive win in cintron/clottey. Now he has beaten Johnson/Cintron again..For me i dont class that as been more impressive going into a fight with Cotto more than when he was going into a fight with Williams.

Regular boxing fans have a short memory. When Margarito went into the Paul Williams fight he had what many thought to be a lucky break against Clottey, he really was getting beat in that fight and if it wasn't for Clottey hurting his hand he probably would have lost.

Now going into the Cotto fight he has had two impressive KOs one. One against Johnson which isn't saying much, but his second victory against Cintron really turned some heads even though he had beaten him already.

Margarito's status is way higher going into this fight than with Williams. He just got the cover of ring magazine, many writers think he hill win the fight and his name is all over the boxing world.

Margarito's "status" is reinstated due to his destruction of Cintron. He's got the same "status" as when he fought Paul Williams. The significance of a Cotto win depends on how Cotto beats Margarito. Williams won a close decision, if Cotto KO's Margarito, it's obvious which is more impressive.

The whole "Status" thing is just ridiculous. Like, what are you trying to say in so many words, that a Cotto Victory over Margarito doesn't mean ****? I guarantee you if it were Floyd fighting Margarito there'd be a trillion threads about how Floyd will cement his legacy with a Margarito win and so forth.

The hype on Margarito is simply coming off his KO of Cintron again. Nothing more, nothing less. A lot of people really wanna see the fight because it's a fight that almost guarantees high drama.

I for 1 think Cotto will win convincingly, but bringing up Margarito's hype as being fraud just shows you got it hard for Cotto...otherwise this thread wouldn't exist because everybody wants to see this fight regardless.

I have to say the Margarito that P.Williams/Clottey fought was better and more hyped IMO than the version Cotto would be fighting.

We have the "Most feared Man in boxing tag" on him at that time so i have to go with Williams, But if Cotto destroy Margarito in impressive fashion then is "W" would be more significant than Williams.
