I really liked the pre calzaghe lacy.. He was an asset to the sport because he wanted to take on all comers.. its a shame hes not the same..
I hope he shows he has enough in the tank.. His last 2 performances were horrible, I know he was injured in one, but that manfredo fight ******d..
I'm picking taylor, but rooting for Jeff

Lacy is 30 years old. He kind of just needs to win a big fight. He doesn't really have one crowning victory. If he can't beat Taylor I could see him becoming a high profile opponent for someone like Andre Ward, Andre Dirrell or even Carl Froch.

First time poster, Taylor fan (hometown boy), had to chime in on this...
This fight is basically a lose/lose for Taylor. If he was fighting a bum like Brian Vera it would be viewed as a warmup fight, would be a guaranteed win, probably by KO.
Taylor/Lacy is a high profile fight. Two olympic teammates, friends, and guys who need a big win.
I really don't see Lacy winning a decision over Taylor, but if Taylor gets sloppy and tries to brawl like he did in the first Pavilk fight and gets knocked out again, his career is over. Lacy looked bad against Contender LOSER Manfredo for chrissakes. And yeah I do think it's possible for Lacy to KO him with a couple of lucky shots. JT might have a solid chin but he's never taken a shot from a true SMW, especially a bulldog like Lacy.
If Taylor wins by UD, it's not going to be a huge career-boosting accomplishment. You don't get much credit for not finishing against a guy who barely beat Manfredo and who got put on the mat by Calzaghe (who based on the general - especially American - public perception is featherfisted).
The only way for Taylor to really win this fight in the public's eye is by stoppage, something that has never been done against Lacy before - giving JT all the more credit. I would love to see a spectacular KO. But then again, I would have loved to see it against Ouma or Spinks too...
That said, if Taylor wins (and I think he will), with the state of turmoil in the division right now his next fight is most likely for a belt.Last edited by dstew; 05-31-2008, 01:30 PM.

Close fight, If Jermain fights like the way he fight Pavlik in the second fight then he can win by decs. Lacy can win by late round stoppage.

Flashback. Cory Spinks - Friend Fight I
Whats up with Taylor fighting his friends? He put on a garbage performance in his first Friend Fight against Cory Spinks. New management, new trainer, fighting his friends. Personally I don't know if he will ever recover from that brutal Pavlik knockout.. I would probably be looking for a friend to fight too. Jermain just
needs to go back to Arkansas and sit down. Maybe work with kids or become a school teacher or something.

If there are any knockouts it wont be from Taylor. He's a "nice guy".. remember against Cory Spinks he fought him like Cory was his girlfriend.

You are absolutely right that based on the evidence that Lacy has no chance. I actually saw a poll asking if Taylor had any chance against Lacy. Wow!
That said, I hope we see a miracle and witness Lacy whoop Jermain Taylor badly. I can't think why!
That poll was bumped to remind that Lacy was in fact a more highly regarded fighter than Taylor was
