Completely depends on whether Lacy is anywhere near the man who was destroying people before he fought Calzaghe. Just because Joe dominated him and he's been on the horrendous injury trail since everyone now thinks that he's nothing more than a punching bag. If he comes back with any speed and power, he'll be a good match for Taylor. If he's more like the fighter who struggled to a victory over Peter Manfredo, he'll be an easy UD for Taylor. I dont fancy Taylor's chances of knocking him out though.

Taylor's chin is ok, but he has been stopped, admittedly more through gassing out than anything; Taylor has many great talents, stamina is not one of them, I'd favour him to win, but he could punch himself out - one thing no one on this forum can dispute is that Jeff Lacy has a massive heart.Taylor would stop Lacy, he has too good of a chin and too much boxing ability. When i look back and think about the fighters that Lacy struggled with before the Calzaghe fight like Donell Wiggins, Syd Vanderpool, Sheika ect, i really wonder why he was a favorite to beat Calzaghe. All of them are technical boxers that gave Lacy trouble and Wiggins was actually beating Lacy before he was knocked out. We should have seen this beating coming. Jermain has a great chin, excellent boxing skills and a decent punch, I'm looking for him to get Lacy out of there in the late rounds. Against a ****er, Lacy would look his best but against a technical boxer, you can forget it. Taylor by late stoppage.Comment

A couple years ago, I was billing this as the ultimate p4p fight of the near future...The opponent of the moment for Jermain Taylor's return is none other than Jeff Lacy, his former US Olympic teamate for 2000. The two boxers are friends, but that shouldn't stop a fight from taking place. A few years ago when Taylor was the undisputed middleweight champion and Jeff Lacy was the IBF super middleweight champ, Lacy told BoxingScene.com that he was willing to fight Taylor regardless of their friendship. Taylor has a great chin, no normal human being could take Pavlik's flush right hands for seven rounds and not be affected by it. It was an accumulation of punches from pound for pound one of the hardest punchers in the sport. Lacy has detiorated, is mentally shot from the lost to Calzaghe and has always struggled with technical boxers. I would favor Taylor over pre-Calzaghe Lacy as well for that same reason. Watch Lacy against Wiggins, Vaderpool or Sheika, he was being out boxed by all of these fighters and they were no wear near elite. Yes Lacy has heart, but that wouldn't stop him being stopped by Taylor, When you are physically worn down, then there is nothing for you to do. In Lacy's past few fights, he has shown a tendency to stare at his opponents and not fight back when they are getting the better of him. Taylor is the wrong one, especially if its the same version that fought Pavlik the second time. It would only be a matter of time.Taylor's chin is ok, but he has been stopped, admittedly more through gassing out than anything; Taylor has many great talents, stamina is not one of them, I'd favour him to win, but he could punch himself out - one thing no one on this forum can dispute is that Jeff Lacy has a massive heart.Last edited by slicksouthpaw16; 05-31-2008, 07:26 AM.Comment
