the first oscar vs floyd jr fight spoiled it...if floyd jr and oscar really put on a great fight then floyd jrs ppv with hatton would of done way better then 800k...it would of been 1 million buys probably.

but what a letdown the oscar vs floyd jr fight was.

And don't think ESPN and SI will be jumping to cover the rematch either.

There have been some very good boxing bouts this year and the couple before - a few involving big names. But some other big names have put on some big-hype, big-money stinkers that have further damaged the sport's reputation with all but the die-hards

ESPN.. a sports network which is watched more then Fox Sports has Boxing on the front page and not MMA.. what does that have to do with anything?

hey thats better then CBS sports forums! they have a Boxing MMA link and no one talks about boxing in there! its all MMA articles and topics....Boxing is pretty much getting trumped...the only reqason Boxing is still kicking is cause the 40-60 crowd is still around ordering ppvs...but in order for boxing to survive they need to somehow capture the 14-25 year old market that ufc already got a strangle hold on...if they dont do that Boxing will just be a olympic sport like wrestling and judo and thats it....and MMA will take over as the premier combat sport in USA.,

it may not be what the casuall mma fan likes...but Sad to Say Bj Penn and Sean Sherk made Hatton and lazcanos boxing skills look sub par compared to there stand up battle...penns jab would of made emmanuel steward proud...if sean sherk did more bobbin and weaving and getting in close he could of did more damage...it was very technical boxing to be honest.

Hatton looks amatuerish compared to those guys he came in with his face and chin up and throwing and upper cut or leaping uppercuts and getting countered all night by a lazy check hook from lazcano.

Sherk has clearly trained the fundamentals but like Matt Hughes (although to a much lesser extent) he's still awkward with his striking, the result of trying to adapt it on top of a wrestling-based style. Very few wrestlers and submission wizards have been able to evolve into top strikers (Penn being one of them, Fedor another).

I'm saying "the bosses" don't create a distinction at this point between the 2... I imagine the traffic in this thread is considered a good thing by the site owners/financers
