Penn has great hands. The Wanderlei fight was explosive. Don't know why everyone falls into the rivalry ****, two differents sports. People should respect both. I've wrestled and boxed, and have equal amount of respect for both sports. The rivalry **** is just a tug of war for PPV numbers. The boxing/MMA rivalry is a product of ignorance.Comment

Hmmmm, good point there. Boxing needs to reevaluate what they are doing. They are letting fighters dictate the future of the sport: too many PPVs, fighters asking for so much money, only one or two good fights per PPV. UFC is the PPV competition and boxing needs to put out.Comment

They were both complete destructions. Wand KOed Jardine in 36 seconds (late stoppage imo, Jardine was out and limp after taking some excess shots on the ground after the big knockdown). Penn took Sherk apart standing. For whatever reason Sherk decided to stand with him (maybe hoping to start taking him down in the late rounds, although he would have had to bank on a stoppage win if this is the case). Penn tattooed him with the jab throughout, cutting up his face terribly before knocking him back into the cage at the end of the third round and, smelling blood, rushing in with a flying knee that landed directly on the chin and put Sherk out with a vicious flurry on the ground. I think Sherk actually quit, as the round ended and the fight wasn't stopped until a few seconds later. Penn was standing over him saying he was done, it was pretty funny.Comment

I'm a hardcore fan, and I don't even show up from the start
Boxing undercards are such crap
Can't blame promoters though, they make more money this way
So while the ufc is busy satisfying its fans and gaining new ones, boxing is busy squeezing out every penny from its current fansComment

I get there for every second of action. I've witnessed undercard bouts that exceed the main event on many of the live shows I've gone toComment

Here is an Example of Boxing you will never see 3 superstars on the same card! ever!
its about EGO!
UFC will put 3 superstars on the same card! no ego on who is the main event...this is why many people are there from start to finish.
In boxing would you ever see a fight like this.
Mainevent Floyd jr vs oscar 2
Co main event: Hatton vs Paulie
Feature: Shane Mosely vs Zab Judah
^if boxing put on PPV cards like this I guarantee you they would make no less then 700,000 ppv buys...a card like that with the right buzz and hype would probably make a cool 1 million buys.
But promoters never make stacked cards like this for PPV...such a shame.Comment

The UFC shows are usually double-digit number of bouts. You didn't see the card from the start, just as you don't see the boxing cards from the start.
The bouts are just shorter so they can get more into the same length PPV show. Wait for the DVD release and see if the stands are packed for the whole thing or not...Comment

I don't know if this thread should be in here but yeah i watched and enjoyed. it was great. it wasn't a super great ppv talent wise but the fights were awsome. the future of ufc is very promising. now only if boxing could have the same structure for their sport.Comment
