To me this is fan paranoia. It reminds of the Roy Jones fans from the 1990's making excuses for him not fighting Nunn and Michalczewski. Even if fans don't give him the credit he deserves, history will redeem him. Lennox Lewis never got the credit he deserves until he beat a totally shot Mike Tyson. Boxing is funny that way. But as long as he is being paid a reasonable fee (and you know he'll make plenty fighting Cotto), there is no excuse for not fighting the top challengers in your own division.

seriously, some of you guys's feelings for Floyd transcend the normal fan/athlete relationship into some sort of intimate personal obsession. here you have a thread where the ones argueing for Cotto dont even have him as their favorite fighter and those arguing for Floyd only follow Floyd and thats it. And if they DID follow other fighters, you wouldnt know because they never make threads and or post in threads of other fighters.

the funniest part is how you guys say Cotto can do no wrong in the eyes of his fans. Do you not read your own threads? Do you not read your own posts? You guys have manifested this aura of perfection and invincibilty around Floyd which has created these delusional standards that other fighters need to follow, but of which Floyd is exempt. In this imaginary world, everything Floyd has said, done and acted upon is the epitome of logical, righteous, and brilliance. In your eyes, Floyd is the blameless victim, persecuted by an unjust world occupied by an irrational and uneducated society known as "the haters" who continue to demand and expect too much of Prince Floyd Mayweather II.

I can respect Valdimir303 because he seems to have some sense of rationality and reasonable perspective on reality. But some of you guys take this passionate obsession of a grown man of whom you will never know just too ****in far.

cotto is a good fighter but he is no hearns or duran. the haters recognize this hence the rush to see the fight rather then let it build.

Name any other fighter that better than Cotto now in the welterweight division. There is none, if Floyd wants to be the best he'll have to fight him. If he chooses not to fight him and retire he will be known as a coward and a ducker who cherrypicked his way to the top.

I like Mayweather. I've defended him in the past. I don't know the whole behind scene's **** between promoters, money, and all that other stuff.
But this fight should have happened this year.
