What you forgeting is its called mixed martial arts which means all aspects of martial arts is included. Stand up fighting is also a style which many pursue when they enter MMA. Look at Chuck Liddell if you ever watch UFC. He is the most recognized fighter in the UFC and was the Lightheavy weight champion for a while and his style is Muy Thai. He rarley ever takes the fight to the ground and is feared for his striking ability especially his over hand right punches which have KO power. Does that mean he should've became a boxer? Does that mean that every stand up fighter in MMA should become a striker? Don't confuse stand up punchers with boxers because not all are the same

100% true. I would love to see some masters mixing things and performing brilliantly, but in my opinion mma or ufc doesn't show us that. I can't argue that it's not rising because it is. To each his own but I personally am very skepticle about the talent level because it incorporates too many things too master and these dudes that I see can't handle it. The only mixed martial artist to have impressed me has been bruce lee based on films and old tapes i've seen.

UFC can have some boring undercards but their main events are great. If you really want to watch MMA battles and almost anything goes, watch the old PRIDE events. They showcased the greatest fighters

I said kimbo is stand up PUNCHER only which is basically a boxer, no? I've never seen kimbo do anything else prior to joining the ufc than box in his street fights. I never said anything about chuck liddell or his style. Sure liddell can throw a punch but if decides to stand up and trade punches with a david haye or glen johnson, good night chuck liddell. Liddell throws wild wide punches and he'll get caught by a good boxer. Anyway my whole point was on Kimbo and why he didn't join boxing when that's all he ever did before.

I honeslty think if Kermit Cintron joined the UFC he would be a champion. Good boxer, strong, and he wrestled. Throw in a little jiu jitsu and he'll tear it up.

I don't know why you keep mentioning Kimbo and UFC and saying that they signed him. Dana White dislikes Kimbo a lot and doesn't even think he is worth signing or is a good MMA fighter. Also, a stand up puncher isn't a boxer. Stand up punching can also involve leg kicks and it is also a style in MMA. I only used Chuck Liddell as an example to show you that stand up punchers doesn't just mean boxing because there are many stand up punchers in MMA. You said that Kimbo should've pursued boxing because he is a standing up puncher and I said that if you make that statement then every stand up puncher should've became a boxer. Everyone has their own style in MMA and stand up punching is one of them, but it doesn't mean they should all become boxers. Kimbo I think would lose stamina in boxing so MMA is a better option for him

That's the problem with this argument we were having. Just because he is good, strong and wrestles doesn't mean he would be fit for MMA. People think MMA is all about power and wrestling. It isn't but it isn't bad if you have good experience in both. There is grappling, striking, Jiu-Jitsu and other styles that MMA fighters become. It takes a long time to become great in those areas. People think MMA is easy and anyone can take it up. Same with boxing when they say that anyone can become a boxer. It takes great skill to take up those styling techniques

MMA is still evolving rapidly. There are newer, better gyms, and coaches coming up. There aren't many mixed martial artist right now that started MMA at 7 or 10 or even 16. They trained in BJJ or wrestling or boxing then later on in life picked up different things. In the next 10 to 15 years as techniques, trainers, and the sport itselfs progresses you will see much better athletes. Guys in the league of BJ Penn, GSP, Randy Couture, maybe even Fedor etc. will just be the above average guys, gate keepers, and a new breed of true mixed martial artist will be the champions. Even then i'll always be a boxing fan aswell as an MMA fan.

Stand up puncher only stands and punches right? A stand up fighter involves kicking, punching, etc, no? Please correct me if i'm wrong, maybe in mma they refer to it differently. Anyway the question I posed in the beginning(and the ONLY point I was trying to make) was why did kimbo join the whole mma thing or elitexc when he is clearly more of a boxer type (Just throws punches)? Is it because mma is easier to join? Clearly if he wanted to make more money boxing was the way to go. I doubt his decision was for the love of the sport. Please no more liddell references, the only thing I was questioning the whole time was kimbo's choice that's all.
