I don't know why people here are thinking that UFC has been around for a long time. It only was here from 93 and it allready is gaining a lot of PPV buys

Both the MMA and the Boxing ****** last night, the difference is one was HBO and the other $44.99. There is room for both sports and MMA's popularity is actually helping boxing, MMA isn't popular UFC is popular. Every MMA company is losing money the only one that's not is the UFC, but they pay **** which is why alot of their top fighters are leaving.

Like I said the boxing and MMA ****** ass last night, anybody that say's the boxing or MMA was great is full of shiat.

I have this to say about the UFC...if you want to see to grown men roll around trying to spoon each other then good for you. With all of the holding Hopkins does maybe he would make a great UFC "fighter".

i like both mma and boxing but i find boxing matches more exciting.

i like mma because it incorporates striking and grappling. i like judo and jiu-jitsu and find the techniques very scientific and fluid. i'm probably in the minority of mma fans because i prefer the technical graplling over the barroom-type brawls.

as far as people being into mma more than boxing i think it's only because of the advantages the ufc has over boxing. with mma in america it's the ufc and everyone else. the other mma orgs are looked upon as junior varsity. so the ufc is pretty much the only ballgame in town and the best fighters in america are generally in the ufc and they are both the sanctioning organization and promotional company at the same time. they can give their audience exactly what they want to see.

for example imagine if all the boxing orgs and belts wbc , ibf , wba , wbo and all the contracts for all the boxers were all controlled by HBO. we'd get every single fight that we want to see. cotto-floyd would already be made. roy and michalczewski would have fought. tyson-holyfield and tyson-lewis would've happened earlier. and if those guys don't want to fight they'll just take away their belt.

UFC has a monoply on the so-called sport just imagine if this guy GSP was to fight an average UFC fighter but fought on his own promotion with say 3 local guys on an undercard it wouldn't draw **** because MMA can't sell without the UFC name. Good points by all and it's true next time you see a UFC event look into the crown all you will see is rich white frat boys who yell and scream. There are not many blacks,Hispanics or Asian fans. Young white guys seem themselves in the UFC because let's face it there is one good white American Boxer so they identify more with the UFC. How can a White kid growing up in rich suburbia identify with Cotto?Marquez?Pacquiao,or Mayweather it's pretty simple. Finally Boxing requires athleticsm and true skill ANYONE AND I MEAN ANYONE can do MMA it's nothing but a bar fight
Haha very good points raised!! The fans look like a bunch of *******s. To be honest I rate Pavlik highly but besides him this is correct. The fans seem to no nothing about martial arts, it is clearly the in thing in America right now. In the UK it is practically nothing, which is great! It just isn't a credible sport is it? If you met the P4P champion of UFC you wouldn't really give two ****s would you?!

UFC to me is a public servant. It gets millions of rednecks and prowrestling fans away from me. I have nothing against MMA whatsoever. I am grateful for MMA for providing this service. Now if only there could be a way to get Tyson fans on the same sinking boat the world would be a better place.

naaaa.. It won't ever happen man.

All boxing needs is one huge light heavyweight figure.... or super middle weight figure.

Charisma... Power... Speed... Dominance... with a verbally Quiet but insanely loud confidence with actions. and a very much different and defined presence outside of boxing.

we get one every now and then.

Anyone who isn't interested in a sport and saw a professional in it wouldn't really care either. Would you care if you seen a golf pro or bowling pro or even a tennis pro. Not as much compared to a sport you like to watch. Also the fact that someone says MMA is all about two guys who dry hump each other and all that garbage doesn't make sense. Every concept of a sport starts off with little popularity and interest but it slowly grows. The UFC is a good example.
