Hey, I so believe that Oscar is still looking for a dance partner. Oscar- Cotto in May, Mexican-American vs. Puerto Rican star! That is a fight worth waiting an extra month for, and it means more for his career and his future legacy.

What happens lets say, Gomez puts hands on him and he loses (I don't think he would)? what is the reward in beating Gomez?

The reward is much BIGGER in fighting lets say Oscar or Paul, then his dream would come true, he would get Floyd, TRUST ME!

the reward of him fighting a balls to the wall exciting mexican, is that it brings in more for your fan base. IMO not a bad way to start off the year.
obviously for the hardcore's like the members of this board - then yeah you'd
hope to garner a better opponent for cotto - but dance partners are shallow right now.

i wouldn't say i believe in this fight - but there are historically worse matches - hakkar, thiam, charpentier etc..

cotto / gomez IMO is better than cotto / collazo.

Let's give prop to Gomez for taking up the fight with Cotto (if it is indeed true). I actually like Gomez a lot and his victory against a shot Gatti impressed me tons, he's a very tough kid but I think he will be outmatched. I would much rather see him in an undercard against Chavez Jr. Zab and Tony, and Cotto vs Clottey as the main event. I still think it will be an interesting fight if it happens. I can't wait for a Tony - Cotto match though, now that's gonna be fireworks.
