I would rather see Cotto face Collazo who is a much more credible opponent than Gomez. Last I heard he was fine after surgery to repair injuries suffered to his hand in the Mosley fight. Clottey is definitely an option as well as a live underdog and would make a great card along with Margo/Judah.Last edited by nozorok; 01-10-2008, 02:36 PM.Comment

cintron's out of the mix and so is clottey as they're already in negotiations w/ others outside of cotto.Joshua Clottey, Kermit Cintron, Mosley rematch,
Anyone better than Gomez, I'm surprised at the fact Cotto huggers are defending him for this, If any other champ had done this I would have critised him as well, Hell when Cintron fought Feliciano I totally lost respect for him, and when he struggled with him it was even worse, but atleast he has a belt and he has said several times he wants to fight Cotto.
a mosley rematch is viable - i'd have to venture out and say that a rematch w/ mosley's a forgone conclusion and that most of the gen public knows this. I wonder if mosley even wants anymore, personally i don't think so.
mosley's an option, not a very good one, but an option.Comment

What about Paul Williams? Gomez is the worst choice out of all. Why does Cotto get a free pass?cintron's out of the mix and so is clottey as they're already in negotiations w/ others outside of cotto.

the fight with williams is the one that needs to be done to deaden the debate as to who deserves mayweather.I say that you let things pan out, with the Williams fight..then make a BIG FIGHT with him ( Williams beat Marg, so what is the use fighting him), leading up to his dream date with Floyd Mayweather Jr. With his outpour over how Mayweather is making excuses NOT to fight him, he HAS to get the next best person in the division, besides himself (i say he is the next best WW). But a fight with a Gomez would be settling, especially considering his last two opponents.
don't you think settling is a better option than not fighting?Comment

cotto, nor anyone else gets a free pass. i mean if your tito of the early 2000's or a recent day pacman - then you get a pass because your body of work has just been ******.
gomez is not the worst choice by far, hes a hardcore - proud ass mexican who has a good chin and gets excited to put on a show. honestly, the guy's beaten manfredo, robbed against smith and retired gatti - hes a good fighter, def not a world beater, but a good fighter none the less.
paul williams is signed on to fight quintana, buddy.
i'm thinking that the fight w/ williams gets made next.Last edited by baya; 01-10-2008, 02:42 PM.Comment

Well lets see how Williams performs first. If he looks impressive Cotto should fight him no? That would be a better fight than Margarito, who Williams has beaten. Early week of February Williams fights...so Cotto has plenty of time to decide when to fight him.cotto, nor anyone else gets a free pass. i mean if your tito of the early 2000's or a recent day pacman - then you get a pass because your body of work has just been ******.

definitely!
if williams is a winner in his next one and cotto is as well - then they need eachother.
cintron and margarito should settle their matters after their next fights.
i see at the mid-year point an already established solid promotion for cotto williams.Comment

if cotto fights gomez hes going in the opposite direction to get a fight with floyd... and if by god some chance he loses forget it... he needs to fight williams... he beats williams he ll get his fight with floyd... he wouldnt beat paul thoComment
