Big difference moving up in weight to fight the top ranked guy, than asking the guy a weight class below to move up and fight at a weight he has fought only once and almost lost to a fringe contender.

Hopkins got his LHW rank due to technicalities because he did beat the number 1 ranked LHW at the time but that's the only fight he has had at that weight (except that other fight 20 years ago).

I guess Hopkins beating Calzaghe doesn't mean anything because Calzaghe was only ranked number 1 in the SMW division and Hopkins is a LHW.

Of course him beating Cal will mean something, Hopkins is 43 years old for crying out loud, not to mention Hop is ranked lower p4p than Floyd was and would be beating a guy ranked a lot higher than Hatton was.

DLH went up 6 weight classes, but you have people giving him crap for wanting to fight Cotto, instead of Pavlik. As far as Floyd goes, standards should be higher for the #1 fighter in the world, if he wants to keep that status.

What I mean is, Mayweather started as a SFW and went up to LMW. That doesn't make him bigger than Hatton.

Hopkins was a MW in the past and went up to LHW to beat the number 1 guy. That doesn't make him bigger than Calzaghe either.

Hatton vs Mayweather wasn't a size mismatch, it was simply skill. It wouldn't have mattered if it was at LWW or WW.

I had no problem with mayweather-hatton b/c i wanted to see that fight since 2005 and it's not like floyd is a big welterweight (like margo, williams, cintron, etc..), but Floyd is the WW champ so he should fight the best WWs out there, which I expect will happen provided Cotto beats De La Fishnet.

De La Fishnet has fought a lot of terrific fighters throughout the divisions but has also fought too many guys moving up in weight for my liking.

The only reason I would want to see Cotto-De La Fishnet is that if Cotto wins, it makes the chances of Mayweather-Cotto occurring that much higher.

Cotto's exposure goes through the roof and makes him an even bigger draw, meaning Floyd gets offered even more money to fight him.

What's Mayweather gonna do? Promote? Go to UFC? Please.

DLH lost 5 times as well.

                Newsflash:

Latest news has it that people who are giving credit/praising Calzaghe and having him as #2 P4P are also talking **** about Mayweather's resume. These same people will give Cal credit for beating a 43 year old out of prime Hopkins and how he is a legend lol lol. Just take notice these are the same people who are talking **** about Mayweather.

as another person in the in another thread stated.

There is alway someone Floyd should have fight.

                  here is the deal:
Fighters come and go but boxing stays the same. There is alway new fighters coming out and retiring.

Mayweather has a better resume than Calzaghe.

Next thing you know, Acelino Freitas fans are going to call Erik Morales a quitter.

Do you honestly think Floyd could fight Whitaker, Camacho, Quartey, Trinidad, Shane Mosley (X2), Bernard Hopkins without a loss? I'll leave out Chavez (X2) since he was past it.
