Look who are the four main posters who are complaining

Wiley= noted for believing Hatton would beat Floyd
Gavins= Believed Floyd would win but hates on Floyd nonetheless
BmoreBrawler=Resents Floyd for not going for the KO against Oscar and hates on Floyd
Mozza=Good guy but in his heart wanted Ricky to win

    Why am I not suprised?

Did you not hear Cortez say he woudl take points without warning? Did you hear him warn Hatton PLENTY of times, ASWELL as Mayweather?

Jesus, what biased fans we have.

Cortez did suck...he allowed no in-fighting...and in fighting is a skill...essentially he didnt allow for ricky to show off his skills. But to be fair floyd would have won either wayi suspect...he's too quick...too skilled..Imnot a hatton ball licker..but i like the guy..but i can admit floyd is too good for ricky...but the fight would have been alot closer if Hatton was allowed to use his skills inside. People forget when talking about this fight,Hatton almost had a knockdown at the beginning, despite not being able to build up the pressure he'dlike to by fighting on the inside.

Cortez sucks ass,and should only get fight that involve two counter punchers...otherwise its going to be stop start stop start throughout 12 rounds.

anyways..its happened now..who cares?...ricky took the loss well..joking about it..floyd showed off his skills..he won..life goes on..imsure floyd willget cotto next year...if cotto can avoid defeat in the meantime...and imsure ricky is going to fight again...look at the support he gets...thats why people want to fight him..not because he has a belt, or because he'sagood fighter...peoplewnt to fight him..cus they know there will be a big gate, and hence alot of money involved..listen to paulie...he saw all Hattons fans...and he knows he can make sum money from it. Think about it..Hatton doesnt have a belt, has just come off a loss...he's not exactly hot property at the moment..but whoever he does fight next...he'l make alot of money for them..and paulie knows it.

I think lennox had it right when he said..if ricky cnt avenge the defeat,he should retire...cus i fail to see how u can get up for paulie,or witter, when u have just had PBF in such a huge fight...if he got a rematch...obviously he'd be up for it.But im not sure hatton believes he can wni,and on the other side..imnot sure floyd would want to bother. But in saying that..the fight made floyd a pretty penny..so when he's counting it..and realising what kinda money Hatton has braught him..he may change his mind...although the fight will be harder to sell this time around. Then again,i suspect the Hatton fans will continue to travel to see ricky fight

WHO DID YOU PICK TO WIN THE FIGHT?

Also, If Hatton is bigger and stronger than Floyd, why would you expect Floyd to fight all the welterweights but not Hatton?

They are looking for excuses. Floyd was muscling Hatton inside. Hatton was getting NOTHING done inside. With or without Cortez. Hatton landed 63 total punches. 0% of them meaningful. Hatton landed ZERO left hooks to the body.

Hatton got hit with that 'check hook' at least three times. Manny first commented on it in round three. I missed Manny's comment in the original broadcast. Ricky is just so one-dimensional that he can't make adjustments.

Hattonettes will keep whining and looking for excuses. "Ricky was moving up a weight". "Cortez didn't let him fight his fight". "He fought Floyd in Las Vegas".

Cortez is not the one who knocked Ricky with hard lead rights all night. Cortez is not the one who punched that clown into a turnbuckle. Face the facts.

Cortez would have been an invisible man in that ring if Ricky had won.

I've watched the fight more than several times, and today watch it for the 20 somethingth time and tried to watch it from cortezs point of view. and here is my opinion (please note MY opinion)

Obviously in the opening rounds cortez has to be strict to both fighters to get his authority on the fight... to the hatton fans this would feel as though he was targeting hatton, but in reality the majority of the time he was breaking a clinch for one of two reasons:

                  1. The opponents arm had gone around the other opponents head/neck creating a headlock type of hold... in some situations the arm went behind the head and then was removed but cortez still decided to call the break... most notably the one where even FMJ gives cortez a look as if to ask "why?"

                  2. The clinch had reached a stalemate and no real inside fighting could happen... again at times cortez did break prematurely... but with only 3 minutes in a round he does after call the break early to get the fight back to an actual fight.

I also feel after round 5 cortez did allow for the clinching to play out a lot more providing the arm didn't come round the back of the other opponents head.

The point deduction incident: I was a bit on the fence regarding this; after watching the incident again several times i've come to the conclusion that it was a harsh decision BUT cortez still has to keep his authority from slipping in the fight. Hatton does hit FMJ to the back of the head (possibly unintentionally) before FMJ goes through the ropes, then Attempts to hit him to the back of the head again as he his going through the ropes. But take into consideration the "Attempt" was deliberate even though he had missed and therefore he was punished for this... But because mayweather was going through the ropes it highlighted the incident more to cortez and obviously mayweather made a 5 course meal out of it... - what made seem even more unfair is at the end of the round mayweather did hit hatton to the back of the head and these went unpunished.

FMJ Elbows & Forearms: with hatton constantly using himself to press up on FMJ and constantly pushing his head onto FMJ and Holding him which many Hatton fans call "pressure", it is only natural for the fighter to use his forearms to make room for his shots, Hatton smoothered his own shots at the best of times and many of FMJ's opportunities but FMJ used the forearm to make room for his inside work and to also get the leverage to come out of the clinch and be able to counter, Remember the elbow is at the end of your forearm so at times this will come into the play... Mayweather seemed to get away with this and it worked, Cortez did warn him about it during the fight but you need to understand this is a foul but it isn't intentional fouling like a hit to the back of the head therefore this type of stuff gets more leeway. There was also times when the elbow came up intentionally before the clinch, but mayweather uses the forearm a hell of a lot with his defense so the elbow will come into play but he was warned for this, and some will argue he too should of been punished...

I agree Cortez didn't have the best of nights... but he is a world class referee and unfortunately certain hatton fans are using him as a scape goat for the reason that there fighter didn't win on the night. Which is only expected has Hatton as a massive and loyal fanbase with some that are not necessarily boxing purists. But calling for cortez to stop being a referee is de****able as this man as been a professional referee that as over a 150 world fights of experience, and i'm sure on his good nights he has been many fans fairest referee.

All praise to Hatton he as shown he as a heart of steel and proved that on the night unfortunately he didn't win the best man on the night did.

Perfect post. Cortez was batting away the arms of the fighter to tell them to quit holding each other WITHOUT breaking the fighters. But after enough holding by both fighters he would break them. IT WAS AN UGLY FIGHT GUYS. When you have an ugly fight you only can do the things you see. He broke the fighters for really ugly clinching, warned both fighters and warned mayweather for throwing elbows, and took a point away for a very deliberate rabbit punch.

It was great refing. Should he have taken away points for Mayweather's forearm and elbowing? Yes... But woo thats 1 point. I've seen plenty of other fights where the ref needed to do more (Wright vs Hopkins anyone?). Cortez had a lot to do that night and he generally did a good job that night.

"OMG Cortez should have taken 50,000 points away from Mayweather for all the dirty fighting he did and Hatton should have rode clean!". Even if he did, Mayweather would have still won. The scores could have been 405-16 for Hatton and he still would have lost.

And let's not forget that Ricky Hatton said he was 'DELIGHTED" by the choice of referee. And prior to the fight, it was ONLY Graham that got his little speech in during referee/fighter's instructions.
