    Replay: Cortez still ******

Just watched the replay. In previous posts, I've "manned up". Ok? Floyd fought a great fight, especially after round 7. But, after seeing that fight again, Joe Cortez deserves another round of condemnation. I'm sorry...CORTEZ SUCKS. He embarrassed the sport with that incredibly biased performance. A true Richard Steele moment.

2:27 into Round 2: Floyd bends down, sticking his head underneath Hatton's arms. Cortez breaks them up yet again and yells at Hatton:
"When he goes down, move out!"

What the hell? Since when is it mandatory in boxing that everytime your opponent bends over into your stomach, you have to back up??
    ---------
Lampley Round 2: "One wonders if Cortez is going to let Hatton fight his kind of fight. Cortez seems to be breaking them up everytime they get into close quarters."

Lampley Round 3: "Again, one wonders if Cortez is going to let them fight where Hatton likes to fight. "I've never seen Joe Cortez work this hard."
    ---------

Thank you Lampley. You finally got something right.

The lasting impression of that fight will forever be after the fight when Mayweather has his arm around Cortez' neck, like best friends. After a moment, Cortez blushingly steps away. LOL

Oh, well...........bring on Cotto. Floyd showed us he will stand in and trade...he did show grit. Now, it's time for Floyd to fight a real top flight welterweight for once. It's time to prove up the resume.

Let it go, man. It's over. Ricky Hatton was knocked out by Floyd Mayweather. I could see some justification for bitterness if the fight went the distance and people disapproved of scoring.

Why? Are we only entitled to complain about bad refereeing if it influences the outcome of the fight?

Cortez does this all the time though. He refs VERY strict in the early rounds to get the message across that he's not taking any **** from the fighters, and he often deducts points in the early rounds as well.

With minimal warnings which can sometimes be very frustrating.

But there is a reason you dont get dirty fights with Cortez.

In a huge ring, with heavyweight gloves, a biased ref was the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back" so to speak as far as giving Ricky any chance whatsoever in a fight against the recognized world's #1 boxer.

AND Cortez should never ref a major fight again. He sold out.

I mean, come on, he takes a point away from Ricky for hitting the ropes (beautiful flop and acting job by Floyd by the way) and then Floyd hits him twice in a row at the end of the very same round, Cortez does nothing.
