A true Richard Steele moment.

2:27 into Round 2: Floyd bends down, sticking his head underneath Hatton's arms. Cortez breaks them up yet again and yells at Hatton:
"When he goes down, move out!"

What the hell? Since when is it mandatory in boxing that everytime your opponent bends over into your stomach, you have to back up??
    ---------
Lampley Round 2: "One wonders if Cortez is going to let Hatton fight his kind of fight. Cortez seems to be breaking them up everytime they get into close quarters."

Lampley Round 3: "Again, one wonders if Cortez is going to let them fight where Hatton likes to fight. "I've never seen Joe Cortez work this hard."
    ---------

Thank you Lampley. You finally got something right.

The lasting impression of that fight will forever be after the fight when Mayweather has his arm around Cortez' neck, like best friends. After a moment, Cortez blushingly steps away. LOL

Oh, well...........bring on Cotto. Floyd showed us he will stand in and trade...he did show grit. Now, it's time for Floyd to fight a real top flight welterweight for once. It's time to prove up the resume.
get over it wiley, while i agree mayweather needed to be warned for use of the elbow there will only ever be one winner out of these two. wiley, even during the spells of infighting (supposedly hatton territory) floyd still dominated. elbow or no elbow, cortez or no cortez, 24 foot ring or 4 foot ring, 147 or 140, ricky hatton never beats floyd mayweather

Mayweather seemed to get away with this and it worked, Cortez did warn him about it during the fight but you need to understand this is a foul but it isn't intentional fouling like a hit to the back of the head therefore this type of stuff gets more leeway. There was also times when the elbow came up intentionally before the clinch, but mayweather uses the forearm a hell of a lot with his defense so the elbow will come into play but he was warned for this, and some will argue he too should of been punished...

      .
this paragraph right here sums up my feelings on this entire situation.

Although the real question - if it was a differnt ref - would Hatton have got frustrated, sloppy and then knocked out?

        Different ref = UD Mayweather.

        End of convo.
look at the top gif in ur avy. nuff said, 2 blatant elbows thrown, blatant holding and hitting, blatant turning your back, hatton hits a rope and he loses a point LOL.

so with 8oz gloves, a smaller ring and different ref the outcome would have been different? please be sensible, the fight MAY have played out slightly different but we would of seen the same result, it was floyds best performance in years and he completely dominated on the inside and out, hatton was so predictable and basic and was never in the fight, it wasnt even really competitive. as for the gloves, whos to say that floyd wouldnt of opened up both hattons eyes with 8oz?

even if cortez doesn't ref maybe it doesn't get stopped early, but wouldn't you rather see a real good KO instead having it go to the cards seeing as how floyd was winning either way?

I'm for smaller gloves, 6-8 ounce for the lighter weight fighters.

But let us be real, if there is no holding and hitting, Floyd would have given a beating the same, if not worse since there would have been room for Floyd to take Ricky to town.

And I like Smoger as ref.

And their you go, big paulie. Mayweather had all the "advantages". Feather fisted Mayweather somehow managed to drop Hatton with 10oz. gloves. But nope, it was Cortezs fault, the size of the ring, etc...
Muthaphuckas sound like some bleeding manginas. What, they wanted the fight in a ****ing phone booth with MMA style gloves and Hattons trainer as the ref?

Have a ****ing you whining broads. Hatton went in, fought his best, and LOST. It gets no simpler then that. Hatton is all good in my book. Some of his fans though can still be seen crying in Las Vegas with a pint of hot beer singing Blue Moon.

With minimal warnings which can sometimes be very frustrating.

But there is a reason you dont get dirty fights with Cortez.
                      THANK YOU.

Were you guys complaining during the Castillo fight? 1st round of that fight had SEVERAL breaks in the action due to Cortez. You guys seriously need to calm down with the xcuses. If you're so damn smart, why didn't you comprehend the fact that it would be a strictly reffed fight when you INITIALLY found out that Cortez was reffing it? No.. instead you hear 'Oh, this is a plus for Ricky..' LOL.. You dummies must have assumed that it was a ref who lets roughousing go on because he beat Castillo. But here's some rudimentary advice: Watch that fight.
