Mayweather won, no arguments there, but the ref was breaking every time they got close, they weren't even clinched or hugging but were broke before they even held each other? Also can't remember the exact round but I recall during the fight Hatton landing the first big punch of the fight and right after it the ref broke them, I was watching the fight with many Flyod fans and I was like what the **** was that and all they could respond was I don't know maybe cause Flyod got rocked or something. So it wasn't just me who thought this just wondering did anyone else see this or remember what round this occured in???
Replay: Cortez still ******

Everyone should admit that the second round was atrocious. Hatton had Floyd in vulnerable spots (not easy to come by), and Cortez jumped in for no reason twice. You shouldnt be able to bend over and have a ref come in to break.
Other than that, no problems.Comment

When a ref has to step in as much as Joe did in that fight, you know there is something wrong, not with the ref himself but with the fighter. This isn't wrestling and holding and hitting or holding itself is against the rules. If they weren't braking rules he would have had no reason to step in. There are ways to fight on the inside without having to hold.. If you can't do that then don't. Maybe you should look for a career in MMA instead.Comment

Hatton does hold alot but in all honesty there wasn't alot of holding going on in this fight b/c once Hatton reached were he needed to be b/c he gots a 6" reach disadvantage the boxers were broken apart, didn't make sense everyone knew Hatton had to get inside and he would work and get there to only get pushed back by Cortez. Hatton's style does cause alot of holding but this fight Cortez really didn't let Hatton even try to fight his fight!!!!Comment

Good point. I always hate gimmicky refs. Refs should be invisible.
But Mills Lane had a "persona", too. And Nady does the goofy salute. And Smoger has the pedo-stache.
I miss Mitch Halpern. He would have been a GREAT, experienced ref right now.Comment

He would have granted your wish of having Hatton beaten within an inch of his life though.Comment

yep, he stunned him with a left, he got Mayweather who looked disorientated and defensively suspect. Hatton was in a rage/fury and was about to unload and in comes fat Cortez to save his ass.
I think that might've been it for Floyd right there.Comment

That's exactly how it happened.Comment
