Floyd just needs 3 more fights... Hatton, Cotto and Paul Williams... if he wins them all, then he can retire and wait for Chavez Jr. to make an impact (if he does) and come back from retirement for one last showdown!!! Then again, I don't see Floyd winning the 3 fights if he decides to make them.

Out of these 3, I don't have much respect for Joan Guzman because he does a great fight during the first 7-8-9 rounds and then runs. Agaisnt Soto, Guzman showed he was the fastest, most accurate, had more speed, the best one, period. I believed Guzman has the power to KO Soto. So instead of setting his rythm and better skills to knock Soto, he chose to run. During the last 2 rounds, Joan even turned his back to Soto. He really looked like he was running away from Soto. Pathetic. I don't know if it is his strategy to stay fresh for the future, but God knows he is good and should face better challengers to get my full respect.

In the other hand, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the best P4P as seen by most experts, period. He got speed, fast accurate punching, decent power, but a questionable chin. Floyd has gotten used to winning by points rather than by KO. In the last couple of fights, after winning by TKO agaisnt Gatti, Mitchell and Bruiseles... he outboxed Judah and won fair and square. Then the last 2 fights, Baldomir and ODLH are way too different. I understand his running agaisnt ODLH, who may be washed off, but ODLH still got skills, experince and above average speed and power. Oscar could had KO Floyd. But the performance agaisnt Baldomir is a shame. Baldomir is hard to KO, that's a obvious one, still he could had a better fight agaisnt a far lesser opponent. I did not respected his performance agaisnt Baldomir nor I respect the way he picks opponenets that are less of a challenge. As long as Floyd keeps evading better opponents, he will have an asterisk next to his record and NO LEGACY.

Last but not least, Ivan "IronBoy" Calderon is undefeated after taking most of the available challenges out there. His fight agaisnt Cazeres was an excellent display of boxing. Cazeres was the bigger, the more powerful opponent in the bout. (arguably the best fighter too) Still, Calderon skills showed he was the better boxer. Ivan was like a bull rider that night and clearly won the fight. Last Staurday against Esquer, he had another great night. Esquer pressured Ivan the whole fight and he constantly outboxed Esquer. There were a few rounds where Calderon stood up and fouhgt, in others he simply became the "untouchable". It takes lots of boxing skills to make the opponent connect 6% of jabs and 18% of power punches, specially when the fighter is full speed ahead on your ass. The little boricua has done what Guzman and Mayweather had done so far, but in his case, Calderon has done it agaisnt the best competition out there. If he unifies the 108 division, that will count for a Leagacy.

No matter their styles, boxers should take advantage in what they do best. No matter if the fighter is a runner, a brawler, or has superior power or speed... as long as they face the best available opponents out there they should be respected, period. So critzy their styles and make solid opinions about it, just stop the hate because some fighters don't go for a KO.
what does Mayweather and Guzman do that Calderon don't? they are all slick boxers. i just don't get it.

Margarito in the other hand, took the Williams challenge like a man and did his best. Paul Williams outboxed him, period. But no matter how you turn my words upside down or sideways, Margarito will give Hatton a badass beating.
Margarito will do nothing of the sort to Hatton. Anyone can talk about fighting big names but doing it is a different story. I watched Margarito against Williams and it took him about six rounds to realise where he was. If he freezes in a fight like that then Christ knows what would happen to him on a bigger stage.

people forget boxing is not like NFL or any other sport yoy fight couple of times per year and that is the only time you show what you are made of.

If you have time off then it stick with you til end of your career and maybe lifetimes example Corrales getting KOed by Mayweather 5 times and Tarver poor performance against Hopkins really is sticking to them. not to mention Roy Jones getting KOed 2 round

Williams will be the toughest fight for Mayweather cause he's like 6' 3".

As for Chavez Jr. I don't see him turning into a great star, maybe I'm wrong, so far I'm not that impressed with Jr.

Dude, I have seen him fight for the last 2-3 years already. I had more respect for him before the Soto fight. I wanted Guzman to KO Soto so bad, he disappointed me. he had the fight ona bag to go, no doubts, still a KO would had been more significant.

I don't know for how long you had been participating at this forum "boxingscene", but I barely started to log in here months ago. Been Boricua makes you aware of boxing from childhood as boxing is a mainstream sport in Puerto Rico. Personally, I had been hooked on boxing for the last 10 years, more or less.

Guzman better buckle up cause he got a bumpy ride ahead of him... (just like I think of Cintron, who i got on my sig)
