Hattons the 1 bringing thousands of fans thousands of miles to watch him , Floyd isnt.
Ellerbe: "Fans Coming For Floyd, Not Ricky"

Indeed. Popularity and infamy/notoriety are also very different things. The point is that Floyd is renowned and Ricky isn't.mayweather is mostly huge in the black and hip hop community, by hip hop community i mean people who are into the music and culture that arent just black, hes also very respected among other american atheletes, but thats pretty much where it ends when it comes to popularity.Comment

man you're dumb. more people tune in to watch Hatton..he is way more popular in his country then Mayweather is in the US..plus his fans travel in the thousands to watch him fight..why do you think May is fighting a JUNIOR WELTER? cuz he is popular and will bring in the $$, dont be so ****** your whole life , okay?Comment

ricky is far more renowned in his own country than mayweather is though, mayweather will never have the support of the whole country, for one hes arrogant, two he looks untouchable in the ring, those 2 things never bode well for popularity for anyone.
very few people can relate to arrogance and supreme ability, sugar ray robinson was one of the most hated men on the planet because he beat the **** out of people, looked unbeatable doing it, and he was an *******. he was also black in a racist time of the country.Comment

I don't have the figures and I am also not saying that Mayweather isn't the name fighter but Ellerbe is once again talking out his arse.Comment

Actually based on the fact that thousands of fans have traveled overseas to watch hatton fight both Collazo and Castillo, and Cotto now is an even bigger name with more draw than either one of them and Hatton is still as popular, if not more.
Mayweather may sell ppv's, but to call the people who buy them fans or expect them to go see him is ridiculous. Just consider the jam packed 7000 who went to go see him fight Sharmba Mitchell, and compare that to ANY fight hatton has had.
I'm not trying to downplay Floyd, he's a great fighter. But he's not the draw, he probably never will be a popular fighter with a lot of fans, just live with it, he's not a people person. The Floyd fans should be content to know he's the best fighter #4# and not worry about the fact that no matter who he fights, he's the antagonist and not the popular fighter or the main draw, it does him no harm.Comment

The bold and the underlined is still true for PBF in this country. The only thing though is that it just isn't as blatent as it used to be but still VERY PREVALENT.ricky is far more renowned in his own country than mayweather is though, mayweather will never have the support of the whole country, for one hes arrogant, two he looks untouchable in the ring, those 2 things never bode well for popularity for anyone.

theres such a thing as proportion. britain has approx 60 million inhabitants and america over 250 million i believe. proprtionally ricky is WAY more popular in his own country than floyd will ever be. ricky has sold out venues in britain consistently and has done very well on PPV in britain with his fights. try and remember that america isn't the centre of the universe and PPV's can happen in other places. floyd could never dream of having 20,000 fans spending thousands of dollars of their own money to go across and support himComment
