ive been watching UFC, Pride, Bodog and IFL for a LONG TIME now and ive only really seen a Judo throw about 3 times and really watered down Jujitsu. the only time there is anything really of high skill level is when a lock or armbar is preformed and thats usually after 2 minutes of grappling where strength is more apparent than skill. thats why ive been following Cung Le's venture into UFC because ive been anxious to see solid skills in action.
For the strengh over skill for a armbar, please look up Royce Gracie, who once fought for 5 15min rounds! or BJ Penn who is a great BOXER and ju jitsu expert

For the fact you've only seen 3 judo throws, please look for Karo Parisyan and he will show u some, guy has been fightin in judo since he was 13 and fighting and beatin guys twice is age. think because you like ufc and pride you will like these guys ALOT for skill level

I agree with some of the things lacy said, but MMA is a sport and it is evolving. But the current fanbase it has is a fad fanbase, it blew up since the start of 2006 and already has plateau. I watch almost all the UFC's and the crowd ussually boo's after 30 seconds if there isnt much action, that tells you people dont understand the sport but go for the spectacle. The recent UfC's havent really been that exciting besides Silva Ko'ing Franklin. Most the big draws have lost recently or left like couture, I agree with Lacy that boxing is the second most popular sport around the world.

Other then Silva and GSP, no new stars.

Americans wont like UFC simply for the fact that the Americans wont dominate it. Maybe in 10 years they might, but for the moment I think MMA is dying out.

And this coming from a huge MMA fan.

MMA unfortuanetly is probably not gonna go away because some will still follow it but yeah I could see it dying down within the next 5 years. All it has is a hype and been marketed well to the younger generation that's all, it simple will never over take boxing -IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. MMA is checkers, BOXING IS CHESS. As far as Kimbo SLice please what a hack he fights in an octagon because he knows in a ring a real hvywght would hand him his ass. MMA is not a sport its an example of how far society has fallen

Me personally I give it respect as a sport of elite level athletes.... That being said, I also am no fan of MMA! Watching guys hunching each other in the missionary possision isn't how I'd like to spend a Saturday night, if you know what I mean.
