Really whose fault is it that the fans thought Gatti was so great? Whose fault is it that DLH is the cash cow in the sport (and held a major belt)? Whose fault is it that Baldomir won the Welterweight championship of the world? Whose fault was it that Zab Judah was considered the biggest threat to Floyd's "0" at the time?
You haters just keep inserting new names into the same lame ass argument. If Floyd beats Cotto you'll just swap another name for Cotto and ***** about Floyd not fighting the next guy.
Which is why they aren't fans and Mayweather shouldn't be fighting for them anyways. I will always support pbf and honestly respect his accomplishments like no other fighter today, except maybe Nard. I say beat Hatton, and retire just to piss these losers off since he'd be considered an atg no matter how much they complain.
what has he done to warrant a number 2 spot in the division? judah lost to f***ing baldomir, and shane was only a good win, not a great win, past his prime. wow, he is undefeated!!!! gimme a break. you cant make an objective arguement for cotto giving him a decent fight,(floyd either puts on a boxing clinic if he respects cotto's power, or doesnt respect his power and attacks him, ending the fight with the accumulation of solid punches) he wont draw until (if he ever does) he beats quality boxers in their primes. no money in it for floyd(relatively speaking), nothing for his legacy, and cotto will get so frusterated that he is liable to hit floyd low or do something else cheap to attempt to even the playing field. cotto, beat williams or cintron in an exiting fashion and then maybe it will be a thought, until then you dont have the merits to fight the best in the world.
good post I see floyd with four options:
1. fight cotto immediately (I like this option best ig means floyd will be 31, and at this stage in his career he is fighting father time as well as his opponent)
2. Wait for the winner of Williams/Cintron to fight cotto (If politics drags this out to 2009 then floyd is going to be 32)
3. fight hatton in a rematch in london
4. fights the winner of cintron/williams
four great options but like you said the obstacle to a cotto fight will be bob arum and cotto's insistence to not fight in vegas and use 10 ounce gloves. cotto is definitely not in a position to dictate any terms to floyd. 70/30 would be fair to give cotto. even 80/20 would be fair.

I agree with you man, floyd doesn't have to keep fighting after hatton. he doesn;'t need cotto, williams, cintron, or mosley to solidify his legacy. but knowing floyd if HBO shows him 20 million guaranteed then he will fight on. I personally think floyd should retire after hatton, but wouldn't mind seeing him beat cotto before he retires that would really piss off the haters
I'll only respond once in order so that this ridiculous thread may die quickly.
It's past your bedtime, son. People here have no use for fairy tales.
Now, run along.
coming from a guy who accused floyd of ducking tszyu after tsyzu had agreed to fight hatton immediately after beating shrmba the 2nd time. you are in no position to cast stones.
^Wiley is a joke, which will be clear enough come December. His hate for floyd overwhelms him and mind ****s him of any and all objectivity and honesty..
good post overall, but cotto right now is getting a name for himself. the mosley fight will do good numbers (350,000) and cotto is a young fighter. if floyd beats cotto and hatton that will be a great feather in his cap.
Floyd is getting older so he can't afford to wait 2 years for cotto get his rep up. he needs to fight cotto next and while he is still sharp. I don't think floyd should fight after the age of 31. and by beating
hoya
hatton
cotto
floyd will solidify his legacy at 147.
What? are you joking? first of all, he fought ODLH @ 154lbs. (and ODLH was OLD DLH), second of all, Hatton is a 140lb.'er (when he looks good, anyway). The only legit 147 guy would be Cotto. I agree Floyd should fight Cotto, but he also needs to fight Margarito, a guy who was champion for a long time at 147, he needs to fight Paul Williams, he needs to fight Cintron in order to solidify a legacy at 147lbs. basically, floyd needs to get involved in some fights that will be all time great fights before solidifying ****. I cant think of one mayweather fight i would want to watch a second time. How many ATG's can you say that about?
