why mayweather won't/doesn't need to fight cotto.

Yeah, but Robinson, Leonard and Hagler weren't AFRAID to fight the best, just because they couldn't make enough money in it, and they damn sure fought more than TWICE a year.Comment

Really whose fault is it that the fans thought Gatti was so great? Whose fault is it that DLH is the cash cow in the sport (and held a major belt)? Whose fault is it that Baldomir won the Welterweight championship of the world? Whose fault was it that Zab Judah was considered the biggest threat to Floyd's "0" at the time?I just love the old "Floyd is so good, he doesn't have to fight the top fighters in his division to prove it." He fights a 6 loss in 45 fight washed up Gatti at 140, then a past it (4 losses in 60 fight, 35 year old) Mitchell, then a lost 2 of his last 6 Judah, then a 43 wins in 58 fight Baldomir, then a 2 losses in his last 4, 1 fight in 3 years promoter in De La Hoya, BUT he's too good to fight undefeated world champs in Cotto and Williams, man it's just too funny.
You haters just keep inserting new names into the same lame ass argument. If Floyd beats Cotto you'll just swap another name for Cotto and ***** about Floyd not fighting the next guy.Comment

Thanks for posting all that impressive stuff about Mayweather, I had sort of heard about all those titles he had won and all those top 1# ranked fighters in their prime that he beat like the living legend Baldomir that beat Zab Super Judah to prove he was #1. I don't know if he fought Chuck Norris in his prime but I think he would give him a boxing lesson, and Chuck in his prime was a beast.Comment

what has he done to warrant a number 2 spot in the division? judah lost to f***ing baldomir, and shane was only a good win, not a great win, past his prime. wow, he is undefeated!!!! gimme a break. you cant make an objective arguement for cotto giving him a decent fight,(floyd either puts on a boxing clinic if he respects cotto's power, or doesnt respect his power and attacks him, ending the fight with the accumulation of solid punches) he wont draw until (if he ever does) he beats quality boxers in their primes. no money in it for floyd(relatively speaking), nothing for his legacy, and cotto will get so frusterated that he is liable to hit floyd low or do something else cheap to attempt to even the playing field. cotto, beat williams or cintron in an exiting fashion and then maybe it will be a thought, until then you dont have the merits to fight the best in the world. and people just sound like idiots when they say floyd is obligated to fight cotto or he should lose his pound for pound title. HE DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH QUALITY WINS TO EVEN BE CLOSE TO THIS POINT. if you want to see them fight great! but floyd doesnt need to fight a guy that has a lame resume at this point in time, granted it could improve.....Comment

you have to keep in mind that hop isn't fighting in his fourth weightclass. You also have to keep in mind that fighters from lower weightclasses really don't have long careers due to the damage accumulated over their careers.I agree on the whole, with one minor issue. I think Mayweather has the discipline and the genetics to continue fighting well into his late 30's. Hopkins did it and did it impressively, he didn't slide until he turned 40. I think if he chose to do so Floyd could do the same exact thing, as he and Bernard are both dedicated gym ****.
legacy wise it doesn't make sense for floyd to fight until he is 40+. He should fight the best of his generation and then leave. why risk brain damage.Comment
