Note to Wiley: You ALSO issue alot of personal insults on here. Introspection suggested.

But Kessler dissapointed me, he's way weaker then i thought he was, and Joe didn't do anything that spectacular but throw those limp shots really fast. But the thing that shocked me, was how weak Kessler was. He's built like a tank, but I saw him get discouraged like around the 3rd or 4th round. And he would'nt, WOULD NOT lower his right or his jab when Joe would drop his head and dive in for a limp jab. I thought that was weak as hell that he couldn't pick up on that, especially because of how much stronger he was then joe.

Sugar ray Leonard had one soda commercial. hagler had one deodorant commercial. Oscar, for all of his mainstream appeal, has had zero endorsements.
Don't try to act like there was a long line of crossover stars, and then THIS generation dropped the ball.
This generation has sustained and GROWN the sport. Boxing is on TV every week. The Contender. ESPN CLassic. Friday Night Fights, Boxeo. etc.
We just had - BY FAR - the biggest event in the history of the sport.
I don't agree that the sport is dying.

Why do people try to impose the values of another era on a completely different time?
Boxing is what it is. I deal with that.
As a FIGHT. DLH-Tito ****** ass. Except that my guy won. As an EVENT, it was off the ****ing meatrack.
The commercialization of sports has changed everything. There are six ****in' ESPN channels. You can embrace the modern state of things and work within that, or you can (with futility) try to buck the system and become (even more) bitter. The SuperBowl is more about corporate sponsorships than it is about the game. It is what it is.
If boxing is on an upswing, you need to ask yourself if the FMJ's of the world have contributed to that.. or have been a growth limiter.

Joe with his limp punches, the way he ducks his head down when he comes in, Kessler just let him do that all night. I mean when a guy lowers his head when he comes in and you feel you dont have a flush angle to punch his face, you hit the top of his head. If Kessler would have leaned into his counters and lowered them, Joe would have looked as ****** and as confused as he did in the first 3 rounds for the whole fight

Boxing fans are ready. I would consider the demise of Floyd the official end of a sorry era.
They had no choice. They were forced to fight every other week for a paycheck and the fans enjoyed those days. Those days are over now and the fighters are more in control of their careers and the money they get.
It's a big business like the NBA for the elite superstar fighters who are signed to HBO or showtime. It's all about the contracts and the amounts of zero's on the paycheck. DEAL WITH IT.

Wiley, you are a guy who posts on a boxing website daily. You are not a typical fan. You are a hardcore fan.
The typical fan is largely oblivious to the mechanics of the business side that turns you off. They don't see Oscar as "a businessman". They see Oscar as a legendary fighter.

Dios.. you're a decent poster for the most part. But this is off-base. He may have ducked Jones, but I don't remember Jones being willing to travel and fight ANYONE. Toney hasn't beaten many fighters that I'd give a **** about, to be honest with you. And Hopkins, who's basically my favorite fighter, is STILL not willing to travel to fight. And why in the **** shoudl Calzaghe travel? He gets paid very well over there and fills stadiums. Not casinos, not arenas.. STADIUMS. Why the hell give that up? At the end of the day, the point of ANY sporting event is to put asses in seats and earn money. He does that. He beat the best 168 pounder, aside from himself and Hopkins NEVER called out Hopkins before this.
Your view of European fighters, even sinking to racial slurs and essentially asking someone online if they could "make you shut up" if there with you in person, really let people know you take this sport a bit too seriously. It's sad that a smart guy like you, lets things get to you, not to mention that you can't handle a fighter that you don't like getting credit.
Calzaghe essentially put on a Mayweather-esque performance against a young, prime, undefeated legitamite belt-holder. Only difference, he actually attempted to finish his man. And don't give me that level of opposition ****, because GREAT fighters don't **** with bull**** like that in the first place. You never saw Robinson give people a reason to think he wasn't trying to stop his man. Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, Ali. They all looked for it, in a smart way but they looked for it.
You didn't get a rile out of me. I just hate, haters. And right now, that's what you seem like.
