Boxing is a sport for the fans. Fans drive the live and pay per view gates. And fans want their champs to face the best out there. Other sports ARE different, but each year the cream rises to the top and the best teams face each other for the right to be called champion.
Imagine if Team sports were like boxing and the champ wasn't crowned every year and instead once a Superbowl title was won, the Colts only opted to play against the Browns.
.
Tonight, Calzaghe got bonus style points. Cheers.
But Teca...
You are WAAAY too emotional about this. All fans are not gonna view the sport though the same prism. You have to embrace that fact.

Talk about being waaaaaaay off course here. For someone with all these GREAT qualities, u sure waste alot of time here being Floyd's hero. Thanks deevel.
Me thinks DIOS will probably send me a PM with one of those fake diploma's you get on the net. The scholar.

Boxing went through some major competition battles (Top Rank vs. DKP) that held boxing back for years. Those competition battles started the decline of boxing. Fans of all stripes left Boxing years ago because it made a joke of itself. Four titlists per division, AWFUL decisions, non-efforts on $50 PPVs...that's where the fans went.
I love this sport and I want to see it prosper.
I'm sorry if I dont like Floyd Mayweather running his mouth about how much money he is going to make by being on Dancing with the stars. I know you do. Because you sure as hell aint a fan of the sport.

You really are pathetic. You were on the losing end of an argument, and you astonishingly resorted to comparing salaries, education level, and body physique with the guy who had u boxed in. LMAO. That has to be the most pathetic things EVER done here on Bscene.

Lemme tell you how much of a fan that BOTH my girl and I are.
My gf would attend boxing matches even before she met me.
If there was a fight, everyone knew who's house would host teh fight party.
I have attended many Vegas fight weekends. Including a broke-me-off ticket for ODLH-Tito.
My dog and her cat are both named for fighters.
I was a consultant who spent years on the road, and I'd always find a bar to watch the fights. Sometimes very out-of-the-way.
I was an amateur wrestler who always liked boxing, but got into the sport hardcore after college.
You want to define HOW somebody should be a fan. Good luck on that. I know a bunch of people (and some on here) who call themselves "fans", yet don't even have Showtime. They troll the boards for free streams. That's bum ****.
Now, I may not meet your vaunted requirements of fandom. Great. Somehow, I'll live.
