I have no idea why anyone argues with this Dios clown. He showed more ignorance than usual in this thread.

What the hell do u care about how much the fight pulled in? Fact of the matter is, Joe brought the fight to a bigger Kessler, and won in an impressive fashion. Floyd ran from a bigger Baldomir and won in a boooooring fashion.

      Kessler >>> Baldomir.

Click here for a discussion about Calzaghe/Kessler and the original topic, not:
          PPV's
          Seat filling
          Floyd Mayweather
          Ricky Hatton
          Mindless insults
          Anything else pointlessly off-topic

This was disparaged by "Brandish" (which I suspect is a nom-de-plume) who insinuated that the only reason it attracted so many people was because the tickets were sold at a knockdown price. My motivation for explaining the ticket prices was to blast that notion into pieces. A lot of people paid a reasonably large sum of money to watch the fight, maybe not astronomical sums of money but a reasonable amount on a night out.

I would also like to point out that the fight started after 1am in the UK. And still drew 50,000.

Are you going to demean those live figures by talking about pay-per-views again?
            Again,

there is a marked difference in business practices. In the US, the objective of a big fighter is not to maximize the gate.

Casino-city arenas are small, and the best seats are 'comped' to 'whales' and celebs. Big-name fighters rely on the PPV revenues.

I'm not belittling the 50K. But you should not use that as some sort of benchmark to measure marketability vs a Yank fighter.

Please don't mention those two fighters in the same sentence again. Kessler is streets ahead of the Argentine.

                Joe got a W.
                Floyd got a W.
                Floyd made MUCH more $.
                Floyd got hit less.

There is a certain contingent who would question the wisdom of your position.
