EL: The question that is often asked, especially by the readers of East Side Boxing is why has there been no offer for a rematch with Kostya Tszyu?

VP: In my opinion I thought that Wlad Wharton would put me in the position to fight Kostya Tszyu but his father told one of my assistant trainers, Jerry Rosenberg that I would not fight his son in this lifetime. I just have to do my thing and that is take care of Sharmba Mitchell and we will take it from there.

CG: I will add to the question you just asked. The reason there is no demand for the fight is because it's like putting a snake in the pit with a mongoose. The mongoose will always win. They know Kostya will never be a great fighter because a great fighter has to do it twice to be recognized.

VP: Shane Mosley is proof of that. He lost twice to Vernon Forrest but he goes down in my book as one of the greatest champions of all time even if he never wins another title. My assistant trainer Jerry Rosenberg would like to add something.

JR: This is a message for Kostya Tszyu. If you are a true champion like everyone thinks you are then come back and give the guy who whooped your ass another chance.

Well, that's a pretty big statement. Can't say I agree though. I seem to have been getting alot of PMs regarding my posts in this regard. Most of them say stuff like...."great stuff"...."I've got your back".....and "good well rounded post"....and etc...etc...

Evidently, the subject of Kostya Tszyu seems to have struck a nerve. And, it's generated alot of discussion about boxing which is always good.

I've been here a short period of time, and essentially have no "board friends" yet, even after being thrown into the red by one poster, I still have rebounded, so clearly people see my point of view as pretty even and biased. The fact that you get PMs, lets me know you're not an *******. But, that doesn't mean you've ever slammed me, either.

            A BLAST FROM THE PAST

            Judah dodges Kostya

            By GRANTLEE KIEZA

            December 26, 2005

KOSTYA Tszyu's hopes of a multi-million-dollar farewell against his old foe Zab Judah were set back when the American yesterday signed to face unbeaten hotshot Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Judah, knocked out by Tszyu in 2001, will defend his WBC welterweight crown against Mayweather, a three-time world champ regarded as the world's fastest fighter, in Las Vegas on April 8.

Judah will get $4.6million as the champion while the highly fancied Mayweather will pocket $8.2million.

A win for Mayweather, the heavy favourite, will seriously dent the marketability of a Tszyu-Judah rematch.

Judah will warm up with a world title defence against Argentina's Carlos Baldomir at Madison Square Garden.

Tszyu has been offered fights against Judah and Vince Phillips, who took his word title in 1997, but says he would prefer to fight ****y southpaw Judah , who taunted him for years before their fight and has been trying to goad him into a rematch ever since.

            * FORMER Tszyu sparring partner Leonard Townsend has been sentenced to 85 years in prison in Indiana.

Townsend, 37, who once lived in Sydney, was found guilty of murder and attempted murder in October in a gun battle that started during a haircut.

I dont' think he ducked Kostya, I don't think Kostya ducked Phillips, but if you think Mayweather was ducking in his case, then Kostya DEF. was too.
KT ducked Phillips at every turn after he got beat by him badly !

Vince Phillips has recently brought a lawsuit against his former promoter Vlad Whorton in order to have another shot at Kostya Tszyu. Ofcourse Phillips was the only fighter to ever beat Tszyu. Phillips says that he believes to be a "legend" Tszyu has to fight Vince Phillips again and proove that he can beat him. Vinces former promoter and Tszyu's current promoter Vlad Whorton had previously agreed to call in to the show and talk with Phillips, but when it came time for the "GUT CHECK" he had none.

GMAN thinks Kostya doesn't look motivated any longer and mentioned that during the afterfight press conference when Phillips stood up and called him out - Kostya said, "We'll see what we can do."

Phillips said that Kostya simply doesn't want to take a chance at getting beat again, he does't want to be challenged.

This is why he ducked Phillips !

M: What do you think has been your toughest fight?

KT: I've had a few very tough fights. One is a fight in the beginning of my career with Hector Lopez and another fight, the only professional fight I've lost, with Vince Phillips. They were my two hardest fights. Why? It's probably because of the physical exhaustion after the fight. After Lopez, even though I won the fight, I was sick for one week. The same thing happened after the Vince Phillips fight.

M: It took you a long time to recover?

KT: Mentally - living day after day and still not having any desire to come back to the gym or anything. That is the most difficult part.

Its not strange when you look at the Hector Lopez fight ,, Kostya was given a gift and many feel Hector was robbed ,,,, watch this fight and you will see why both Phillips and Hatton beat him and why he wanted no rematch , its all in the Lopez fight .
