Other than that he actually made some good points, but still it just goes to show you how ignorant the media is when they talk MMA vs. boxing
On the other side of the coin, sports media has been pretty ignorant about MMA as well. Especially in the case of Kevin Iole. In a span of a month, he's called Georgs St. Pierre a "mental case", called people who civily disagreed with his statement "keyboard warriors", and is now calling Renato Sobral a disgrace to the sport and has gone as far as calling Sobral "Babaloser" because Sobral didn't let go of a choke. Iole has even gone to rediculous ends in comparing the Sobral/Heath incident to the Charles Bush incident.

          I agree with Kball

Its not because of the fighters, its because of the name.

They promote the shows as UFC shows.

Its UFC 7234 not, fighter v fighter. They promote the brand, not the fighter

People as you "Did you see the UFC fight?"

They dont ask you, "did you see so and so vs so and so?"

Not a chance in hell, people fail to realize that the two aid each other in a way. People always compare and more importantly they WATCH to see which one they like more. It get's each sport attention and is forcing the real good matches to be made, which is how it should always be.

Hate to burst your bubble, but PRIDE FC (an MMA organization) was selling out 80,000 + for years in Japan (source:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PRIDE_F...ships#Origins). UFC doesn't equal the only organization for MMA in different countries.
If you want to make an argument about the UFC, then call it the UFC not MMA.

But right now it's the Kameda brothers that are selling the arenas out and drawing huge cable ratings, even before Pride FC's demise, the boxing Kameda brothers are killing K-1 and MMA tv ratings in Japan.

Forget triathlon then. Let's talk about Decathlon, that's a track and field event that combines 10 events: 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400m, 110m hurdles, discuss throw, pole vault, javelin throw, 1500m.

Giving decathlon another thought, it's actually kind of interesting I like it. But I sitll prefer the single disciplines cause I get the very best. the 100m dash, the 110m hurdlers, etc.
I think you make a mistake here by saying no perfection in any given one. Usually a MMA figher is near the top of his game in at least one discipline and works on the rest. Randy Couture is a Olympic-level Greco-Roman wrestler and is improving on other styles. Josh Kosheck is an 4 x all-American wrestler and works on other styles. Anderson Silva is an expert in Muay Thai, B.J Penn is near perfect in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Gonzaga an expert in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Shawn Sherk is an expert in wrestling, Fedor Emelianenko is an expert in Sambo and Judo and the list goes on and on. Give these guys more credit, a lot of them have trained for years in their discipline.
