makes no ****ing sense. Floyd beat the man at 154, and thats all you have to worry about really...

and 38 wins is a lot more impressive when half of those fights turn out to be title fights or title eliminators....
as opposed to what...50ish wins and 2 or 3 defences.
your world of boxing legend and "incredible" upsets is crashing down, eh? Styles make fights...

Oscar fought better competition in non-titles than Floyd did in title fights through 38 fights....

Larry Holmes beat ali, is that "all we need to worry about"?

great post, floyd has a 30.7% defense ratio, which in layman terms means 31% of his fights he is defending a title.

I'd like to see him fight, to surpass Oscar: Shane Mosley, Paul Williams, Miguel Cotto, Oscar Rematch if possible, Hattion(is doing..although its a mismatch, props for taking the fight anyway), and maybe even take a run at the Marciano record...why not, at this stage there would be only bums left anyway, he couldnt be criticized for ducking. Maybe unify the welterweight titles in the process. That sounds like ATG material, and he has the skills to do it and do it in style.

No, Im not asking him to "get hit more". Thats ******ed, and I get it all the time here. What he did against Oscar was a work of art, completely draining him mentally and physically(oscar had to be drained keeping that great D up the way he did). At the culmination of PBF's master plan, he lost his nerve and didnt pull the trigger. All I ask i that after prancing around for 8 rounds wearing ppl out mentally, maybe do a little bit of wearing them out physically just to prove that this is still a fight sport.

defending a paper title against non-competitors for the most part...its pitiful that youre still lording over PBF's beating of Gatti as in your avatar...so typical of a classless floyd nuthugging bum to take pride in that...

IT DOESNT MATTER THAT STYLES MAKE FIGHTS. Mayorga beats Vernon Forrest, just because his style is ****ing messed up for Vernon. He became the best Welterweight in the world. You HAVE to give him that credit. Does that make him a better fighter than Vernon? Maybe not...but he still deserves the credit for beating him and becoming the #1 Welterweight in the world nevertheless!

Ali was past his prime, and you could tell in his fights before the Spinks fight. It didnt happen all of a sudden while he was still looking great. He had just got a gift over Norton too long ago, was smacked around pretty badly by Shavers, and had lost to Spinks before the Holmes fight. I still give Holmes credit for the win...but only as a legitimate, ordinary title defence, not nearly as much credit as fighting an Ali coming off of a win over George Foreman.

give me the names of these non title fighters that are better than all of Floyd's title defences put together. thanks.

The way I see it, Mayweather should not be fighting to become an all time great, he should be fighting first to earn his way out of oscar's shadow...then we can start talking. As of now, he hasnt proven anything when we have a warrior like Oscar standing right there.

Hold up! Hatton is no push over my friend. He is undefeated you know.
But as the fighters get bigger this is going to be harder for Floyd to do. It should be on the oponents to challenge him in the ring and get him to mix it up just as he gets them to fight his fights.

you know who they are...we've already established that floyd has only fought two tough fights, both of which were close. Sure, he makes average fighters look like bums, but against tough but not incredible fighters like castillo/de la hoya he is brought back down to earth.

I love hatton, but there are too many factors against him at 147. At 140, at least speed is more or less a non-issue, which is why I wish the fight was at that weight(though I understand why its not) . the guy has lead legs @147.

hey, I LOVE floyds style, thats the thing, and Im a short guy so i naturally root for the shorter fighter and wanted floyd to bear oscar at first, but when his style is working there comes a time to turn things on...oscar tried to force a fight, mayweather got him to a point where the risk of attacking oscar was minimal. Floyd is an underachiever in my book, with a lot of potential. He is not the god he is made out to be.
