. Although lets be honest, the main reason he joined is because he thought he wouldn't be getting much more football at international level as McClaren had dropped him (like the idiot he is) and Capello dropped him... during this time he signed for Galaxy, but afterwards, he was recalled to both club and country because of his excellent form.

. Also, the day you people start calling it 'football' is the day that you have truly woken up to the real world

I don't know what his motivations were, but I bet they're more complicated than that. He and his wife are a Hollywood couple; it's not about him being too old to make it in European football.

He wants to set up some football academies in the US.

It's mostly the Hollywood lifestyle though.

Hard to say. There are a lot of national boxing fans but not really MLS. They also tend to be 1st or 2nd generation imigrants for the most part.

I will say this boxing is more popular than MLS but I dont know about Soccer in general.

That's a ridiculous statement - boxing is far from dead, and will never die.

Although the public's interest in boxing has declined over the past 15 years, this year it seems to have actually gained back some popularity, with the media attention given to the DLH/Mayweather fight, and because of some great matchups like Judah/Cotto and the Pavlik/Miranda slugfest.

Is that so how many average joes in america could list the 4 heavyweight champions in the world . How many average joes would be able to list 5 boxers.

That's a little unfair to the average joes of america because 3 of the 4 heavyweight champions are changing titles every other day.

Soccer is actually a decently popular sport in the south. Everyone does it when they're a kid, the thing is that most people tend to move away from it when they get older. There were several leagues when I played and more at different levels. That and Texas IS football. Theyve been doin really well in basketball too. They move on to basketball and football because the lack of pay...
