I'm suprised Kick boxing isn't that big here, but the USA loves non kick related sports i guess (soccer, kick boxing)
One other thing: boxers being "overpaid" is one of the things that hurts the sport. This allows guys like Pretty Boy to pick and choose his opponents; he only has to fight once a year.

For UFC 71, they made 4 million at the live gate, plus a million ppv buys. A million ppv buys at $40 dollars is $40 million plus the $4 million from the gate. With the UFC bringing in $44 million, they paid their fighters around $1 million of that. This is why the UFC is still around and getting bigger while Pride has been bought out, and other organizations aren't as successful as the UFC...

Pride kills UFC in presentation they need to get rid of dana white and bring in Vince Mchanon and then have there fighters take classes with "the rock" and "Hollywood Hulk Hogan" on how to bring flavor to the UFC they could tap into there fan base and make even more $$$$$....
legalize the elbow to the face get turn buckles and get "The Macho Man Randy Savage" then he would be the biggest and bestest heavyweight champ ever in the UFC

MMA fighters needs a Union period since UFC is going to own...
if boxing dictated who pbf would fight he would of stuck around 135 maybe 140 knowing him

Thats not why Pride was bought out.

Pride was making money hand over fist until the allegations came about that they were dealing with "The Yakuza" and they lost their TV deal with Fuji TV. They were pulling in ratings that stayed steady above 13.5 and reached 18.6 with Shockwave 2003. When they lost that TV deal they had no other real source of income because Japanese aren't big on PPV. So they ran outta money and the UFC bought them out. If they didn't lose that TV deal they would still be around, it has nothing to do with what they paid their fighters.

Maybe Boxing should try bringing some of those guys over. Last time I checked...barley anyone is watching boxing anymore...

Delahoya mayweather did amazing PPV but the day after....every channel I turned to...all I heard was "I will never order a boxing fight again" "Waste of money" "Boxing is dead"

How many PPV buys did Judah vs Cotto get? 10k?...the worse UFC cards pull in 500k...

                      "MMA Weekly
                      " ...
The following figures are based on the fighter salary information that the UFC is required by law to submit to the state athletic commissions, including the winners' bonuses. (Chuck Liddell and Quinton Jackson had flat salaries with no win bonuses.)

Although MMA fighters do not have collective bargaining or a union, the fighters' salaries are still public record, just as with every other major sport in the United States. Any undisclosed bonuses that the UFC also pays its fighters, but does not disclose to the athletic commissions (specifically, PPV bonuses for PPV main event fighters), are not included in the figures below. Also not reflected below are the taxes that the fighters have to pay.
                      ..."

Yeah, as I said there are some bonuses and the top-level, elite guys also even get some ppv cuts. These figures still don't make the average UFC fighter make more than the average boxer, which is what you originally said.

Also, a union in the UFC would give the fighters more power, but no way Dana would let that happen. He'd lose a lot of control. Dana used to be a manager so he has a better understanding of what's going on than most promoters, but bc of that he relies on the fighters' managers/agents to work out the best deal for them.

Basically, Dana and the Fertita brothers are making a ton of money. And, especially considering they just bought Pride, they probably don't wanna give the fighters too much money. They're working on setting up a monopoly on MMA by expanding, and expanding costs money, but when they do have a lock on the MMA industry, they can not only make a ton of money themselves, but also have all the best fighters in the world and pay them more too.
