and bro dont attack me and my support of boxing u dont know me, and what ive contributed to the sport from any aspect, its ppl like u who attack ppl on these forums that have made stop posting on **** like this, debate the game dont attack the person
Thunder, where did I attack you? I disputed what you SAID.

You claimed that you saw PBF , Arum and Margarito on TV talking about the fight was a done deal.

You never saw that. It did not happen. Floyd did not want the Margarito fight. Floyd wanted the Delahoya fight.

    Here is EXACTLY what happened:

In the fall of '05, after the dusting of Sharmba, Floyd was negotiating for a Judah fight. People were excited about that fight. Judah had blown out Cory in a rematch and his career was back on track. The date was set for April 8th 2006. Judah had a mandatory vs Balthazar, Baldomir, something like that. No problem, right? Random tomato can from Argentina?

    Then came the seventh round.

Judah loses a close decision, and Floyd-Zab is in jeopardy. That week, Ellerbe and Haymon scramble to find another fight. They call Ray Hatton, and he says that Ricky would need 'tune ups'. Huh? WTF?! He just beat Tszyu and Maussa!! What kind of young, active champion needs "tune ups"? Oh well. Whatever. They begrudgingly call Arum, but Margarito had a late February piece-of-**** PPV scheduled at the Aladdin Hotel in Vegas with ******* Gomez.

Nobody wanted Mayweather-Baldomir, so Team Mayweather moves ahead with Zab anyway. Floyd wins, although his nuts are sore.

Throughout this time, the boards (including THIS one) are abuzz that Floyd is a ducker, and that he "turned down" an $8 million "offer" from Margarito. In truth, Arum was playing a game and offering Floyd money from Floyd's own pockets. Margarito has no fan base, as evidenced by his 30K PPV buys vs. Gomez and the half-sold room at the Aladdin.

Floyd goes to the Delahoya-Mayorga fight the next month hoping that his potential cash cow doesn't get beaten. Thankfully, Oscar looks good and the Oscar-Floyd talk gets started.

Oscar said that he would announce his "Floyd Decision" during the weekend of Hopkins-Tarver in Atlantic City. He was saying that he would either fight Floyd on September 16th, or retire. That was also the weekend of Cotto-Malignaggi. The Hop-*****Lips fight did solid nums, while Cotto's PPV tanked.

Oscar said that he would not fight again that year. His shoulder hurts. So PBF shifted his sights to Mosley. After Mosley knocks Fe-ROID-o Vargas out with that sweet left hook, Merchant asks SSM if he will take the Mayweather fight. Shane says - and I'm not even joking - that he has to take Jin on vacation, and he has to get his tooth checked out. True Story.

Floyd appears ****ed. Gatti is supposed to beat Baldomir, and it's clear that PBF can't go fight Gatti again. Their first meeting wasn't a fight. It was a snuff tape.

WHOA. Baldomir KO's Gatti. SAVED!! So now, PBF has an opponent for the fall. Floyd shows up in pink, hits Baldomir for six rounds, hurts his hands, and dances for the other six. Crowd is restless and boos ring around the arena. Who couldn't see this happening? Cobwebs grow on Baldomir's fists mid-punch. He is Valuev-slow. Will Perdue laughs at Tata's speed.

After the Floyd/Baldo fight, Showtime puts on a dual card with Margie and Cotto. Miguel looks very good. Scary, even. Margie looks ordinary. But Clottey makes most people look bad. This was s'posed to be a showcase to set up a Miguel-Antonio bout. But they forgot about Paul Williams, and his legitimate claim as a mandatory.

During this time period, GBP and Team Mayweather are negotiating. After the new year, the fight is announced and the rest is history.
Sorry for the long recounting of last year's history, but I needed to prove to you that there was NEVER a PBF-AM fight "made". Floyd never "pulled out", because the fight was never done. They didn't even meet with Arum.

    Sorry.

    Anybody remember things differently?

But when you start making stuff up, you stop being a fan of the sport, and you become one of those sissies who is more fascinated with personalities than what takes place inside the ropes.

I took this personal man, u dont know me, and what i have done, so dont assume anything. so let me just clear things up b/c we r getting off track and im gonna make this as short as possible.

The fact is this i did see arum on TV on ESPN on the very short lived stephan a smith show, i thought that pbf was the in studio guest but it might have been g leon. They talked about how a fight with margarito and and pbf was set up for the fall for 8mill, and like i said before both parties were in agreement, but nothing was signed. so again dont call me a liar.

What i dont like is how u talk down baldomir and try to BS the boxing public that the belt that judah was given to him after baldomir didnt pay the sanctioning fees is for the real world 147. and then do a 180 fight him after the gatti upset, the best thing to do would have been fight bali and then margarito in aug. would have been perfect, then a move to 154 for odlh and then come down to 147 and defend against cotto, hatton and williams, that is
what a true champ would do and it something pbf hasnt done since his days at lightweight.

so in closing buddy, u still r dodign the questions i asked before that while pbf stays "retired" he stays in the dark shadows of ducking not only cotto but the best of what this generation of fighters (who r in the primes of their career) at 147. and what the true sin is, is how u r not in any sense upset about this and defend these actions.

i hope he proves me wrong and pulls a ray leonard in the a sense in what srl did w/ hagler. but the problem is pbf is as good, exciting, or has the charisma of any of those fighters, so he and boxing cannot afford any of this "retirement" BS

        • ThunderGatti,

You ARE aware that PBF fought SIX weeks ago....right?

The guy fought in November. Enjoyed Christmas. Went back into a long training and promotion in January. He just got $25 million.

WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING RIGHT NOW?

I can tell you that I would be walking around in Rio de Janeiro with $100 bills taped to my shirt.

Listen, man. Calmate. Tranquilo. Floyd isn't "retired". This is a business ploy. A negotiating tactic. The same way you go to a bar and lay in the cut and make the bitches come to you so that you don't appear desperate....that is what he is doing.

Appear uninterested. Criticize everybody. Act like you're above it all. And then make these guys take the money YOU want to pay them.

Floyd is in a position of strength right now. He is going to exploit that.

The same way that Oscar has punked guys for years, PBF is gonna punk these contenders/champions.

            • DIOS DOMINCANO you have made some very solid points. Why your bar is red is unknown to me but I'm going to hit you with good K, regardless of whether or not you agree or disagree with my assessment of Floyd ducking Miguel Cotto. I simply see a replay of Leonard Hagler happening, Floyd will wait a few months or until Miguel has a tough fight that takes the life outta him, then challenge him. Textbook move. Anyways, +K for your contribution. I'll go through and read more replies later,tommarrow...Been on my feet all day, **** RETAIL...

Here's a solid point, mayweather aint duckin cotto he announced his retirement in nov 2006, i think that was before Cotto even fought urkal.

So get back on your feet for that one.

                lol.

He saw the up and coming Cotto and knew the inevitable would eventually happen, he would have to face him, so of course he started talking retirement early. That just tells you how feared Cotto was back in Nov '06, picture him now with Zab defeated.

Why is it so hard to believe?

Cotto's style, a relentless pressure fighter who possesses massive physical strength, throws tons of punches and even has a good jab, and will get off the canvas and can eat a good shot, is the absolute PERFECT fighter to have the best chance against Mayweather. Mayweather, he's no fool, he knows this.
