1. He won't be able to tie up Miguel like he did Oscar. You can't clinch a guy who has that much physical strength. He won't be able to tie up Miguel when he gets in close, or on the ropes. Roger's main gameplan if Floyd is having trouble on the ropes is, 'Tie your man up'...With that element of their plan thrown to the wayside, what will he do to make up for it?

2. If he were to fight Miguel, he would be going up against one of the best fighters to ever cut off the ring. Definately the best pressure fighter he's ever faced, and the best at cutting off the ring, would be Miguel Cotto. The fact that he's an expert at cutting off the ring, and un-clinchable, makes him a not-so-promising opponent. Floyd knows all this.

3. Miguel is at his peak. This is the best version of him we've ever seen...

Floyd only really tied up Hatton and De La Hoya. If he can't do this he can shoulder roll and block punches and find a way out. If Floyd finds he can't beat Cotto while on the ropes he knows how to stay off of them. Floyd would tear Cotto apart in the center of the ring. Floyd is better than Mosley. Cotto's only shot is to keep the fight inside for the most part and try to break Floyd down. He'll never outbox him or beat him in the center of the ring. He has to REALLY let his hands go.

i think you just might be right. the problem really is, i honestly don't think we will be lucky enough to ever see it. let's hope that's wrong.

i just don't see floyd taking this fight before 2010 and after 2009 this fight won't matter anymore. it will be remembered similar to jc/bh, tito/rjj, a fight that happened too late...

3 reasons why floyd would win IMO

1- He could expose holes in Cottos defense easily will sharp fast accurate countrers that will wear cotto down

2- Floyd has fought body punchers but none seem to hurt his body cause of his great defense

3- He will adapt to Cottos style after 4-5 rounds and take him apart from then onwards;.
