Both are the reciprocal of one another.....with that being said skillfiul fighters are talented and a talented fighters are skillfull within thier own rightfloyd hasn't always thrown one punch at a time. he's thrown amazing combos with one hand sometimes too. like against, gerena, when he floyd threw a 4 punch uppercut and hook combo to him. against corley, floyd threw a lot of combos. floyd is just economical with his punch output. he knew he had brittle hands, so he chose his shots wisely, but a lot of that also had to do with the fact that his defense and offense were a tag team combination. floyd was always defensive even when he threw combos. floyd is a counterpuncher, so he waits to counter with his right hand or a left hook. floyd has thrown some beautiful combos in his past fights. floyd just fights smart, which is why he is more polished than roy, who was just talented but he did tend to look sloppy in the ring at times. roy was unorthodox, which is why it was hard for fighters to figure him out, but floyd, as far as natural skill, and learned craft, was just untouchable by anyone. floyd is also undefeated because of this too imo. he knew how to win fights with his defense and offensive. he could fight well off of the ropes, unlike roy, he could block effectively and then counterpunch well, unlike roy who could counterpunch great, but not off of the block like floyd could. i've seen fights where floyd blocked punches with his right hand and countered with the same hand right afterwards, that's a combination of brute skill and talent. roy was just gifted with the tools he had, and used them well, but floyd was more versatile with his style, because he knew more ways to beat you than roy did imo. again, don't misquote me, roy was a monster, actually on eof my favorite fighters in history, but truth be told, skillwise in defense, smart offense, and overall smarts, roy doesn't hold a candle to floyd. floyd had the best defense since pernell whitaker and toney. roy looked better as far as throwing his punches than roy did. roy has more knockouts and more power, but floyd was more economical with his style, thus staying unbeaten in the process.
talent-wise, no fighter i've seen matches roy jones
skillwise, floyd is the opitimy of a skill master, and skills in this case, overshadows talent.
From the unorthodox position Roy threw his punches effectively, require some sort of technical skill.Comment

I think that they BOTH will go down as Hall Of Fame inductee's no doubt about it, I think it boils down to their reigns though, they been champions in equally as many divisions.. Roy Jones: Middleweight, Super Middleweight, Light Heavyweight, Cruiserweight (I think) and Heavyweight.. Floyd Mayweather: Jr Lightweight, Lightweight, Jr Welterweight, Welterweight and Jr Middleweight.. and if I'm wrong about the "I think" note I made above then Floyd won belts in 1 more division over Roy Jones.. hence it boils down to their reigns and if you break it down you'll notice that they BOTH were/are pretty invincible.. if I had to pick I would say Floyd had more TALENT Roy Jones just had more Power and Speed, y'all may think I'm crazy but once Roy's speed died down he got knocked out, Floyd has been in fights where he was the slower man like in the Judah fight and due to his superior skills he was able to overcome the fight, Roy is VERY skilled but in many instances it was his physical features that saved him, if he wasn't so fast and strong then South Paws of his era could have REALLY tested him..
I think Roy had the more invincible reign, he ran through CHAMPION opponents and made it look easy, he did a lot of amazing things like his **** fighting and things of such but notice how the main key to be able to pull off those moves are speed and power, Roy had that and when you factor in his skills it combines into 1 BIG power house, he was untouchable for a while, but that was more due to his physical features, once his physical ability took a downward turn he got caught and pretty bad, Floyd on the other hand has used SKILLS and SKILLS alone to win his fights, his speed played a BIG part but as I said above if he wasn't so skilled then people like Zab Judah and Oscar De La Hoya at 154 would have beaten him, they would have eventually tagged him enough in those close fights BUT they didn't and it wasn't because of Floyd's speed, it was because of his brain.. the Defense is impeccable while Roy was ALWAYS open to be hit, he ALWAYS held his hands low unless he was on the ropes but lets be real here when Roy was Roy there was no "on the ropes" for him, it was just Roy getting his **** off..
in closing I'll say that Roy was more of a power house, he could KO the **** out of you and he did it with ease, his quickness and agility combined with his power and unorthodox style of fighting produced an unbeatable opponent for anyone at his time, he saw himself in many fights where his physical attributes played the determining factor and they couldn't hit what they couldn't see but once that slowed down EVEN WITH his unorthodox style he was knocked out, Roy was a beast, entertained the crowd and was highly skilled, did **** that till today I can't believe BUT Floyd is more skillful, he's a percentage fighter and barely takes the offense, he's always just doing enough to win the fights, he RELIES on his skills while Roy Jones HAS skills but RELIED on his physical attributes, it's why he COULD take an offense and do so well as opposed to Floyd who DIDN'T rely on nothing by Speed and Skills to win, he gave more light to skills ALONE than Roy Jones whom was more so unorthodox with his **** fighting style and quick hands.. 100Comment

Roy hands down is greater than Floyd will ever be. Ive NEVER seen a fighter like Roy in his prime, although Floyd is a master technician his fights never entertained me. It is quite annoying that one can dominate an opponent but never go in for the kill for fear of getting hit back. That pot shot pit pat **** is not very fan friendly. I know some Floyd fan is going to say that he is only fighting like that now because of the weight he had to put on but to this I say Shane and Oscar both put on more and kept their entertaining styles.Comment

Roy Jones Jr. is one of the most gifted/talented boxers I've ever seen. A talent like his doesn't come around too often; a similiar comparison would be Michael Jordan. Talent like theirs is very rare.Comment

If Roy had retired at age 34, we wouldn't even be having this discussion. He would have been undefeated (can't count that rediculous DQ, which he AVENGED in the rematch) and he DOMINATED his opponents.Comment
