FightFan: Floyd Mayweather has said several times in the press in recent months that you demanded 13 Million dollars to fight him. Was such a fight ever discussed and can you comment on the validity of his statement?

RH: I don’t remember saying that exactly, but it was probably something in that region. I think it’s a mega fight worth a lot of money, but that end of it is really up to my father and my team to negotiate. I think it’s a fight people really want to see because people know Floyd moved up to welterweight without fighting the Lt welterweight champion. I think a fight between he and I could be one of the biggest fights to be made in boxing.
There it is. I'm still waiting on a quote from someone saying Mayweather ducked Hatton...

Ricky Hatton admits he priced himself out

      Case Closed.

This should be made a sticky so everyone knows the arguement was put to death.

Please find a quote where someone, anyone, says that Mayweather ducked Hatton.
Brian Kenny basically said as much in an interview. Floyd was unable to give an answer. Besides which refusal to negotiate is just one of those ways that fighters avoid one another.

At this point I will bring up Antonio Margarito, as I think it is timely.

Dont need quotes. PBF moved up to welterweight. If he had of stayed at lightwelterweight for a while and stopped being so hyperactive a fight could have been easier to negotiate.
Hatton hasnt ducked Mayweather but just said he wasnt ready for him until a couple of fights or so. Not being ready doesn mean he is ready in that he dont think he can beat him. Just not ready in that he wants to fight a couple of different people before the big one.
Waiting a while builds up the excitement for the fight for people. There was no need to rush, but now with PBFs hyperactivity maybe it was a mistake for Hatton.

As i said maybe. Witter won a vacared belt though and didnt really win it in the ring with anyone credible. I am sure Hatton will attempt to shut him up at some point. Unless someone gets to him first which is highly likely.

Floyd got tired of waiting for Hatton and if you haven't noticed that division is dead. The best fighters were at 147 at the time and that's why he moved up. If Hatton wanted the fight, he shouldn't have left welterweight...

Go read some of the quotes people have posted of Hatton saying he wants Mayweather by the end of 2006 and how he feels he can beat Mayweather...

The perfect time for this fight to happen was early 2006 and Hatton just didn't want it. Like I said, there was no one else worth fighting at 140 so PBF wasn't going to bother waiting...
