Hatton - Cotto wold be a great fight with an uncertain outcome. It would be better as a non-title affair at a catchweight I feel, but either way it would be brilliant.

There's too much of a smell of bull**** around this rumour though. Why would Cotto fight for the IBO belt at 140 when he holds the WBA title at 147? Unless it's for the Ring belt. And why does the Times know about this bout before any Hatton insiders? Seems a bit suss.

Agreed Squealpiggy, catchweight seems to be the best idea in this case.
I am fairly on the fence as to Hatton's abilities but what is all this **** with criticizing him? People are obviously happier having fighters just TELL them that they are the best.
I'd be delighted to see this match-up.
Great to see Cotto-Judah and Hatton-Castillo. Anybody unhappy with these bouts and the resultant winner vs winner fight is ******ed and is no true boxing fan. We should be encouraging this **** to happen at ANY weight.
Go watch WWE if you like 'smack' talk and phony storylines.

You see Cotto is a hard puncher, and likes to **** to the body. Hatton also likes to **** to the body but is more of a swarmer than a puncher, so in terms of styles Cotto would be hard for him. Hatton would have to box in and out while Cotto would have to put up with a lot of pressure. It would be a very interesting fight just because of the mix of styles and dangers. Cotto hits harder but Hatton hits more often, Cotto has a slightly better defence, Hatton has a better offense in terms of hand and footspeed... I thoroughly enjoy watching both fighters although I am more of a fan of Hatton (He supports Man City!). I would favour Cotto to win at 147, Hatton to win at 140 and pick'em at a catchweight. But it would be an amazing fight.

Some people are more interested in disrespecting the fighter they dislike the most than in actually savouring a potential firework festival.

I don't think so. I would pick Cotto over Judah for a decision win, Hatton over Castillo by stoppage, and I think both Cotto and Hatton will be criticised heavily for their performances (completely unjustly). A fight between the two of them would be something!

What I think? I think that's bullcrap. Fighting Mosley or the winner of Margarito/Williams is the right thing to do rather than taking a step backward and fighting for some IBO belt bull**** at 140. Cotto has the WBO 140 belt, he decided to vacate it and fight for a 147 title because he is having problem with the weight. Now that he has the WBA welter title he is going back down to fight for the IBO belt? **** that, it doesn't make any sense at all.

If he fights Mosley he is fighting a p4p fighter, If he fights the winner of Marg/William fight? He's fighting a unification. It's that simple, or he can fight Cintron for the IBF belt.

Cotto's chance of winning against Mosley or the other two fighters? That's a different arguement.

i give judah more chance than castillo but that would depend on whether judah
can fight his best fight over 12 rds. doesnt really happen so cotto ud and hatton
ud for me, and yeah, criticism will come but castillo and judah are really good fighters who have mixed it up with the elite and would give anyone a test

if 147 is a more comfortable weight for him then thats where he should fight but hatton is an opponent he wants to fight and sacrifices have to be made to get what you want. i was genuinely curious as to how you think hed fare against mosley or margarito

Although Hatton has a far higher pedigree than Margarito or Williams. And Mosley is too old to make it a "super fight". Hatton - Cotto would be two undefeated fighters in their prime at the top of their game. Williams would be too green, Margarito is a lesser name than Ricky, and Mosley is past his best.
