Of course it was 'offered' there. Thats where Hatton is stronger.

That doesnt mean that he is refusing to fight at any higher weight. The key of negotiation is to start low and attempt to retain as many advantages as possible.

He already mentioned not long ago in an interview he would be willing to take on big fights at 147 but Cotto wasn't included since he's not on his level or some **** like that. Now he's talking about Cotto coming down to 140 for his belt? To me it sounds like he is refusing. I guess in the long run we'll see if its part of the negotiations as you say.

I know Bob Arum was going on about it but that doesn't necessarily make it so. I would take anything a promoter says about their number one cash cow with a grain of salt.

Not necessarily Cotto. He went back to 140 to avoid ALL THE DANGEROUS FIGHTERS at 147. PBF, Mosley, Margarito, William etc etc. Hatton admitted that he's not comfortable at that weight and it will put him at a disadvantage fighting the legitimate 147 pounders.

A logical move. At least he realizes his physical limitations. And that having said I doubt it if he is willing to go up to 147 to fight Cotto. Maybe in a catch weight.

I could see him fighting guys that have also moved up, but not necessarily fighting guys who are moving down. Cotto isn't that far fetched.
