I man other than Ali, I'm not too familiar with who he beat. I don't see any of those names ever being mentioned among the greats.
there aren't too many 'greats' floating around frequently.

some greats beat only one great like frazier did, and some beat none.

Well, I'll admit he is not currently in my Top Ten; but he fluxes in and out; and here's why...

      1. Only two fighters ever beat him, Foreman and Ali. Those same two fighters, it could be argued, are the two top heavyweights in the best heavyweight era ever.

      2. He has impressive wins over Mathis, Chuvalo, Bonovena, Quarry, Ellis, Ali, and Bugner....and damn near beat Ali when he was past his best. If Ali is indeed a Top 2 heavy of all time....the man who beat him when he was near his best deserves some recognition.

      3. He was argueably the third best heavyweight in the best heavyweight era of all time and had a better championship reign than #2.

      4. He was alwasy in a fight, unless you were George Foreman.

He just beat a boatload of solid A- contenders as well as one of the greatest heavyweights ever in a near prime Ali. Wins over guys like Chuvalo, Quarry, Bonavena, Machen, Mathis etc. compliment the Ali masterpiece nicely.

We're all biased of course but I just watch Frazier and feel like I'm watching someone who'd be a handful for almost any man in history while with Foreman I feel like he was fighting weaker and often undersized opposition. There is also the fact that he outright admits to ducking Quarry himself which does not sit well with ranking him above Frazier for me.

He was sure a top fighter, but GOAT?! I don't understand...

            His record is 32 - 4 - 1

That's like saying Rahman is a GOAT because he KOed Lewis
            Like Rahman Koeing Lewis?

Nah, it's not simply based on his win over ALI. The guy was a champion for five years for Christ sake and it was on the era when the heavy weight division was flooded with real good contenders. The guy gets beaten up and mauled in almost all his fights before he gets his victories.

He is more under rated than being over rated.

Barrera lost twice to Jones by K.O.

              So.......Barrera isn't better than Jones?

He beat everyone except Foreman, who is ranked ahead of him. It's not like he's in anyone's top 8 and rarely makes top 10. He's a solid top 12-15 for sure though. And he did beat the prime Ali. The 2 guys that beat him are ahead of him so there's not really any room for complaint.

Barrera lost the first fight by disqualification and second fight by decision...the DQ should have been a KO but it was'nt..

Yeah that's right I was off.

I thought he knocked him out twice, but either way Barrera was damn near dead when his corner stepped in the ring. I also wouldn't say Jones is a better fighter than Barrera is just because he beat him senseless.

Foreman has called Quarry the Greatest fighter to never win a title. For some reason Jerry was in Foremans head.
