At that time, Leonard had never been in a street fight like the first bout and realized he wasn't winning that kind of affair with Duran. The rematch saw him using more movement and the mind games that became legendary.

...honestly one of the most versatile and gutsy fighters I've ever seen. How he switched it off and on and changed direction against Arguello was mind-boggling. Also, his attitude; he refused to lose. If yoiu knocked him down, you just pissed him off and he'd come at you twice as hard. I love Aaron Pryor.

He's my second favorite fighter of all time.

Aaron Pryor is what made me want to be involved in boxing. He had an insatiable desire to win, just unbelievable. He showed some of the craziest **** in fights with Kameda and Blackmoore. I'm cool peoples with his son.

To me, that's BS.
Yeah, I'm actually more of a fan of technique; but do appreciate guts, which are at the heart of boxing. Slipping a punch doesn't make you a puss...it makes you smart. And anyone who really watched Whitaker knows at his core he was just as "mean" as Roberto Duran....he just expressed it differently. This mean-streak and ruggedness of Whitaker can be seen, of all places, in his loss to Felix Trinidad. He had nothing else left at that point but his grit.

It pisses me off when people say pryor failed, i mean he had his 5 years of glory. Same thing applies to his hero, homicide hank. They were champ for the same amount of time.

Loenard cannot play mind games with pryor, his punches will piss pryor off, not actually hurt him. He will constantly apply pressure, something durand and hagler dont do. It was like watching armstrong's ressurection.

The thing that kills me about Pryor was how he let the drugs take over....it did ruin his career. He was great; but could have been so much greater. And a Leonard-Pryor bout would have been choice.

Well, I just read this book about Ali and in it, the famous writer Jimmy Cannon is quoted in an article as saying that "If Ali wants to be called The Greatest, well then fine, but he needs to stand and fight and not move around so much if he wants to be a real heavyweight champion." So it's safe to say that old-timers who think the idea of a boxer is a guy with mashed potatoes for brains think guys who make you miss are *******. Just real nonsense. I'd like to take some of these WWII old farts and beat the piss out of them so they can be like their perceptions of their boxing heroes.

See, I'm just as mean as Duran also. Only I express it like a social deviant.

Whitaker didn't really show meanness against Tito, he just showed a champion's heart and will to win. He didn't really go all out like he needed to late, but he made a great performance of his depleted talents with just his desire to win.

which era had more talent, 70/80s or 20/30s. Be honest man, you know its the latter era. I honestly think gerry cooney would have beaten guys like braddock, carnera, willard, bar and sharkey.

I am talking about his Welterweight career mainly in relation to Leonard. I pick his Jr Welter and above. Castillo and Corrales are great fighters I agree. Floyd doesn't have the competition that Leonard had and that is not his fault. I am not denying he is a great fighter but he is not out and out better than Leonard and even a win over Oscar will not prove that.
