So ironic that both he and Greb died in essentially the same way.
Where's he buried in Georgia, btw?Comment

Willard was an actual Cowboy on a ranch and all before taking up boxing.Comment

Willard could outpoint Cooney as could Carnera; Baer would destroy him, Sharkey would disect him and stop him in the later rounds. Schmeling stops him, Louis anihiilates him....as does Dempsey.
....and none of the guys I listed were heavyweights. Not sure if you knew that or not; but I find it uncanny that you're quick to rank modern fighters over old school fighters without actually knowing anythign about those old school fighters whom your are casting aside.....that really gives you a large margin for error.Last edited by K-DOGG; 01-16-2007, 05:48 PM.Comment

Luther McCarthy was the man you're thinking of. He was thrown from a horse, but survived the injury, only to fall unconscious from a light blow delivered during what was to be his last professional fight. He never regained consciousness.

i know about the old fighters that matter such as benny, ross, pep, armstrong, louis, robinson. Why the **** am i gonna waste my time on cans like carnera and braddock, they were bums.Willard could outpoint Cooney as could Carnera; Baer would destroy him, Sharkey would disect him and stop him in the later rounds. Schmeling stops him, Louis anihiilates him....as does Dempsey.
