    Whoa....I'm speechless.
He doesn't know of old school fighters it seemed. Walker may give Cooney a test since he drew with Sharkey. I may try and visit Tiger Flowers grave in GA in the Summer I have been meaning to.

So ironic that both he and Greb died in essentially the same way.

Where's he buried in Georgia, btw?

Anyway, Cooney-Carnera would be amusing just to see how many fall-downs took place.
Willard was an actual Cowboy on a ranch and all before taking up boxing.

Willard could outpoint Cooney as could Carnera; Baer would destroy him, Sharkey would disect him and stop him in the later rounds. Schmeling stops him, Louis anihiilates him....as does Dempsey.

....and none of the guys I listed were heavyweights. Not sure if you knew that or not; but I find it uncanny that you're quick to rank modern fighters over old school fighters without actually knowing anythign about those old school fighters whom your are casting aside.....that really gives you a large margin for error.

In Atlanta I think at least that is where he died? Walker lived to be an old man up until the early Eighties I believe. Both died in Surgery and that is strange indeed.

Luther McCarthy was the man you're thinking of. He was thrown from a horse, but survived the injury, only to fall unconscious from a light blow delivered during what was to be his last professional fight. He never regained consciousness.
