Seems that these types of situations happen a lot. I thought May Pac would be the same way. Luckily it was finally made.
That's not where the term monkey wrench comes from. It is nick name for a pipe wrench because the shape of the wrench head looks like a small monkey. The term was used as a metaphor in the Gilded Age industrial revolution decades before JJ went to prison. To throw a monkey wrench into (screw up) the works came from workmen dropping tools into the open geared early machines.

I was trying to say that in the story I read, it was referred to as a monkey wrench, and they explained that it was called that because of what I alluded to. I can't remember where I read it.

For what it's worth, I read it wasn't his invention at all, whatever it was supposed to be, so I'm more inclined to think it's untrue.

OK I misunderstood . . . I get it, sorry; just another opportunity for a racial slur.

            Thanks for the history lesson

I wore cheat clothes from Kmart
My high school was third rate and I was pushed to join the military .... perhaps eating my time studying EE/CS was a waste of my time. My dad was a mechanic and it didn’t pay much..

My pops called me a sissy for getting carpel tunnel while working for a company google bought

So according to Unforgivable Blackness, Johnson was indeed an inventor. He received patents for an improved automobile wrench, he shared a patent for a "theft-preventing device for vehicles," and obtained another patent for a "hydraulic lift." I'm inclined to believe that these were true being that the patent numbers were given for the first two mentioned (patent number 1413121 and 1438709 respectively). You can look them up to learn more. Apparently the theft preventing device shut off the fuel supply. Pretty cool!

So can that anti theft device be purchased anywhere?

                  Here's the patent:

Pretty damn cool. But this is for a very old car and I'm assuming there are better anti-theft methods nowadays. lol. I haven't really looked into it so much. The technology has probably since been used in other ways. Not sure if it can be purchased.

Only one I've seen these days is one that messes with your brake. Seems like locking your gas pedal would be more effective. And if you're in that bad a neighborhood, people are just gonna steal parts anyway.

lol. That's a good point. I guess the best thing then is for someone to finally invent the batmobile defense, when the car completely goes into a shell
